Roleplay & Combat mix: Some sessions are strictly role play, some are primarily battles...depends on where the PCs go and do honestly
Number of Players in game & needed: I am looking for 1 or 2 more people to join this ongoing campaign (The PCs are at level 6, started at 5) so we are not far into the story yet.
Character starting level & equipment: 6th level
Character restrictions: Not a lot. I have all books except the newest Wild Beyond the Witchlight. Will work on building a character together, there are a few things I don't allow, such as the Tasha's putting race ability scores where ever you choose.
Campaign: Storm King's Thunder - Based in the Forgotten Realms along the North/Sword Coast
Who can join? Anyone, although would like a female player for some diversity. We are a bunch of guys in our late 30 and 40s.
Currently, we have 4 players, but we have to say a sad good-bye to our Harper dwarf fighter Bearan Stonecrusher due to real life getting in the way. He will be missed as he was an absolute beast in fighting and upholding the good for the weaker folk. With his leaving opens the door for newer adventurers to join the group. What the group needs is 1 or 2 party members to see what is going on with all these giant attacks throughout the northern Sword Coast.
Here is the make-up of the current party...
Vaarnock - Elven Druid - His role in the party is to summon as many animals as possible to screw up the DM's vision of how a fight will go. Crafty, stealthy elf who rarely wild shapes, unless stuff goes really south. Not afraid to stick his nose into a good fight.
Orum Bearclaw - Half-orc Barbarian - If you have played any D&D you already know, he is frontline and will wreck your face. Can be thoughtful and kind at times. 10 to 1 odds mean nothing to him.
Nix - Half-elf Sorcerer - The smooth one of the group. Really enjoys casting fireball and also ruining the DM's vision of a good fight. Seems to get what he wants most of the time due to his silvered tongue. A half-elf of few words. Deathly afraid of cows.
Zardos Lados (NPC controlled by me) - Tiefling Bard - Was hired on by a goblin king to escort the group as a favor to them for helping the goblin king establish his kingdom. Plays wicked music with his horn and serves as the de facto healer. He is the main reason the group is still alive after a very deadly encounter. Has a big mouth tho...
Here is what I am looking for from the incoming player(s)...
1. At this point in the campaign looking for an experienced player in both 5e and Fantasy Grounds. If we were starting the campaign then it would be a different story. Truly Sorry, but no newbies!
2. If possible, would like 1 of the incoming players to be female as I would like some diversity in the group (currently 3 male players).
3. This party is mostly goodly aligned and are looking to save and benefit the region, no evil PCs or Murderhobos.
4. Would make it a bit easier if 1 of the incoming players was a Harper, but not necessary.
5. Play your character. It is a fantasy world, be someone else for 3 hours. HAVE FUN! If for any reason you are not having fun or something is bothering you please feel free to reach out to me.
6. If you have already played this campaign before, then please do not apply. Looking for players that have not enjoyed this campaign before.
7. Long campaign - at least 6 months so be prepared for a great and long ride. If you know you can't meet up in January or something then please do not apply.
What kind of DM am I?
- I like to stick to the rules, for the most part. I will change some things up and if you would like to try something out, just ask. I may say yes or no.
- I like fights and designing battles to make it challenging for my players. Unfortunately, these PCs are very good at preparing and making in fight adjustments and sometimes making my battle plans look weak. I love it! I reward ingenuity and will not penalize a player because they outwitted the NPCs. I am known for getting really low initiative roles. FGU hates me I think.
- I also like roleplaying. Already have had several sessions go without fighting in this campaign. Nothing better than resting my voice as the characters decide what to do or talk amongst themselves.
- The one thing I do not like is constantly repeating myself. If I have to repeat myself multiple times because a player isn't paying attention then maybe give your seat to another player who will. I totally don't expect you to be engaged for the full 3 hours but please do not go afk without letting me know.
- Every Monday, I send out a pretty detailed recap of the prior session via email. Not sure if anyone reads them, but it helps me prepare for the session ahead.
Sorry for the long post but, want to make sure potential players know they are getting into a fun, serious campaign with a great group of players. DM is a little suspicious tho.
