Awesome. Glad to assist.
Also run on Debian testing (Stretch) x64 (both with and without ATI proprietary drivers).
Here are the required steps (basically the same ones detailed by sturtus):
* Fantasy Grounds Installer Download
* Enable i386 architecture: # dpkg --add-architecture i386
* Update Debian
* Install PlayOnLinux. Note that it is absolutely necessary to install the wine32 package, otherwise playonlinux will fail at the virtual drive step. Eg.: # apt-get install playonlinux wine32 wine64
* PlayOnLinux
- Install a non-listed program
- - Click Install > Install a non-listed program
- - Manual Installation starts
- - Install a program in a new virtual drive (try first 32 bit, if install later fails abort install, remove virtual drive and reinstall selecting a 64 bit virtual drive this time)
- - name it FantasyGrounds (or whatever you like)
- - Do NOT select "use another version of wine", "configure wine", or "install some libraries"
- - Wait while a virtual drive (prefix) is created.
- - Select the install file to run, Browse to FGWebInstall.exe, Next
- - Install Fantasy Grounds
- - - FG Installer will run
- - - Agree to terms
- - - make sure Cross-Platform compatibility is checked and hit OK
- - - FG Updater runs, downloads everything, installs, then attempts to run FG
- - - ERROR ("Ruleset: launcher unable to load ruleset file base.xml") will pop up, ignore it and just hit OK (if it keeps poppig up simply choose the other option).
- - - Choose a shortcut: FantasyGrounds.exe
- - - Name your shortcut, just keep default is fine, click Next
- - - Choose I don't want to make another shortcut, click Next
- - Close all windows
Run FG from the desktop shortcut, and license it from within.
Troubleshooting
- If install keeps failing try managing the wine versions as detailed in the first post by sturtus (try 1.9.2).
- As a last resort attempt you can try installing steam to see if it pulls some required dependencies.
Welcome Alduin Starborn and thank you for the update :)
For the most part this worked good for me. I needed to do a couple extra steps to get it loaded into Ubuntu 15.10. I'll try to get to updating this tonight (if I can remember all the steps.)
Sorry for this, but does the /scaleui command add black bars to anyone else's FG window? I am running FG via crouton and trusty. The buttons and everything are still behind the black bars, but it just does not redraw properly. Reseting the ui scale to 100 removes the bars and places everything. Running out of ideas.
Its quite possible that scaleui isnt well supported in the wineskin environment...
do you have cross platform compatibility mode checked in settings?
Yep. Looks like I will be sticking to windows when playing FG.
or dont scale? i personally find it much easier NOT having a lot of windows open.
Yeah, but it's a chromebook screen. So, it's pretty tiny..
