I was curious about what ppl thought about the system
Next to Castles & Crusades it's my favourite ruleset. I'd play if there was a game at a convenient time, but I'm already DMing 4 different games and trying to stay married for some reason.
I've only played Rolemaster a handful of times, but I loved the crunchiness of it back in the day...some 20 years ago. If there were a game opening that fit with my schedule, I'd be all in. Loved rolling on the various critical tables for weapons!
there are a handful of games going I do not play the RMC version but the FRP extension. The old school is always the best way <smile>
Still playing RMC with Harp character and spell system.
Harp Spells are the best system.
Cheers
Mark
I run a semi regular online game and have run a face to face game a few months ago at a Con recently. The rules and the fantasy grounds implementation of them are showing their age a bit. My regular players seem to enjoy it and I find it pretty easy to prepare campaign material to play with though the FG rule set does tend to crash a lot and i am currently having to re build my campaign files as FG crashes every time i click on the NPC button. If you want to play Rolemaster face to face i can strongly recommend a web app called Combat Minion which I was able to run a kindle fire for a 7 hour Con game. All the players had to do was roll and read a D100, the app did the rest so play was really fastno more adding 2 digit numbers together and looking up charts to get a results
RM is my favorite system, I love the 'realism' that it brings into gaming. The spell system is a lot of fun, and the customization of characters is hard to duplicate in other games. It is, however, a game that requires some time to get acclimated to. If you want a pretty quick jump in and play the game, probably not a system that will suit your tastes, but if you want a game that really allows you to have THE character that you want, well, it is hard to beat RM for that kind of flexibility.
I want to learn the system, would anyone teach me? i want to DM a game
Happy to teach you. you can catch me on steam viv_id is mt ID it will come up as Ardem from sydney, I am home at the moment so I should be able to catch me in your timezone (night or morning) for the next few weeks
Dakadin forget fixing any current issues get that new version done <wink>
I really want to use those DOE extensions, for sound and stuff.
Thank you so much i really want to learn the system!! i very much apreciate it
Sorry to necro up this thread but I had a couple of people interested in running a RoleMaster campaign and wanted to see if there was any activity in this regard on Fantasy Grounds.
I run a Shadow World game on Friday and a Middle-earth game on Saturday. The former has been going for over a year now, the latter about two months.
My group plays weekly usually on Sundays.
I'm GM'ing a game that runs every Friday night (Western Australia timezone +8GMT).
Oh, there are still people playing it. Some have moved over to Harp, or are waiting in the wings for RMU (assuming they ever get it done). There is a RMC group playing via Fantasy Grounds who posts their activities on Youtube. Channel is "Wolfshield Games", and IIRC they had a recent upload about a week ago.
I ran a RMU beta (tabletop) for about 3 months earlier this year, but got so tired of the rules changing, that I swore off it till I saw something more complete. =D
I run a Middle Earth campaign, but it is challenging to find players who can play consistently and that know the rules. I may be looking to join a campaign as well.
"We" are that group = we/ve been running for well over a year with 7 players, I also run a Middle-earth game on Saturday (7 players) that has been going for about 5 months.

Well, thank you for posting those to Youtube. YouTube is pretty barren of any RM content, so it's nice to see a group that's running it and having a heck of a good time. I've never run a game in FG, but you make it look easy, and I know that's hard to do.
Whenever RMU gets the go-ahead, I'd hope we'd see ICE cooperating with FG to get an update for the rules. Might even lead to more activity in general. =)
I am just getting started to move from physical presence to FG due to, you know, reasons ;)
Yea, it sometimes makes people wonder if they really ever want to get the thing out the door; course that's frustration speaking after 10 years I'm sure.
However, I will honestly admit that there are suggestion that the Dev teams have been especially thorough in the review of the new ruleset. By that I mean I've heard they've re-validated races, characters, skills, creatures, treasure, etc to ensure it matches the design principles and concepts of RMu. We saw that with races in 2018; where the races were re-evaluated using a standardized point system. I've heard the same thing went for Creatures and Treasures, as well as other areas. That understanding gives me the feeling that RMu isn't simply a new name on an old product (aka RMC=~RM2, RMFRP=~RMSS). I know that sounds like something simple, but given the painfully small resources they have to fund this effort, it might help to explain things.....
I'm not excusing the time it's taken, and have ranted and raved at the DECADE it's taken them, but... I'm still willing to wait.
RMSS is my favorite version... everything just made sense and there was internal consistency across the board IMO.
I would have to say that RMSS/FRP is a better game system but I prefer playing RM2/RMC. It's just more fun and less work!
RMU is getting closer. I believe it is heading to layout now.
I am also half way through the final revision of the stripped down "Lite" version manuscript, which is looking good.
I'm probably too old for an upheaval so I'll keep with RM2/Classic I think.
I was in the beta for Unified back in 2015/16 but kind of got bored with the lack of direction. I honestly thought that it had just faded away.
There have always been the RM2 camp and the RMSS camp. I'm hoping that Unified will bring it together. Worst case scenario is that it just becomes just another version and all the new Shadow World stuff ends up tri-statted :D
I'll take a look when it's out.
Well, there have been a few. As Arion said, the Director's briefing had it, but unless you are signed up for the email push, you wouldn't have seen that.
Colin @ ICE, does post to the FB Rolemaster page, and just the other day he said (partial quote):
The Iron Crown Twitter feed does see similar updates, but obviously more broadly targeted (HARP, AutoHARP, ERA, Rolemaster, etc...).Quote:
While the team finalise the wording for RMU, I'm hard at work putting together a list of illustrations that we'll need.
Hope those help.
