[Paid] Rime of the Frostmaiden Quad-Weekly Sunday

About the GM
I started with Red Box D&D 35 years ago and ran my first campaign as a DM 34 years ago. I am a big fan of the Forgotten Realms setting and specialize in lore and history of Faerûn. I currently host in 2nd Edition, 3.5rd Edition, and 5th Edition D&D games on the Fantasy Grounds platform.


Campaign Setting

Beneath the unyielding night sky, you stand before a towering glacier and recite an ancient rhyme, causing a crack to form in the great wall of ice. Beyond this yawning fissure, the Caves of Hunger await. And past this icy dungeon is a secret so old and terrifying that few dare speak of it. The mad wizards of the Arcane Brotherhood long to possess that which the god of winter’s wrath has so coldly preserved—as do you! What fantastic secrets and treasures are entombed in the sunless heart of the glacier, and what will their discovery mean for the denizens of Icewind Dale? Can you save Ten-Towns from the Frostmaiden’s everlasting night?



This campaign will be using a modified Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden adventure in an regional Open World/Sandbox format. Modifications include making the storyline episode friendly similar to Adventurers League format, addition of political intrigue, and heavy on roleplay with NPCs.
We will also have DMs Guild and Adventurers League side quests set in Icewind Dale that may be pursued. All official WotC publications that are setting neutral or related to Faerûn are permitted. No Theros, Eberron material etc.

When:

Episode 1 will be Sunday 10/24 from 2PM ET (UTC-4) for 3-4 hours depending on where we can find a stopping place.

FG Version:

FGU Ultimate. No license needed by players.


Type of Players:

This is a Drop In Campaign. It is a long running campaign but broken out episodically so it is friendly for "drop in one shot" players. We set it up this way with a core of 2-4 regulars with 1-4 drop in players to supplement the party strength. It's a great mix for those who want to play regularly or those who don't have a lot of time and can only drop in once every few months.

The types of players that will do well in this campaign are the Actor, the Explorer, the Storyteller, the Thinker, and the Watcher. The Power Gamer, Instagator, or the Slayer are not good matches with the rest of the players or for a political intrigue setting. This should feel like improv theater rather than a game.

All official WotC publications that are setting neutral or related to Faerûn are permitted. No Theros, Eberron material etc.

The following books will be available for players to review in Fantasy Grounds. If you own any of the PDFs and want to create a character from a DMs Guild publication that will be allowed with advance notice. We will also have content from Legacy of the Crystal Shard and Storm Kings Thunder enabled since there is lore and some overlap in locations in these sources.

Alignment:

We don’t use alignment as a game mechanic. Your character and NPCs are all individuals acting in their individual, societal, guild, religious, etc. Best interest. Your character won’t be penalized for inconsistent behavior to an alignment. If you want to be evil or good all the time that is up to you. If you're evil before you've had your morning coffee then welcome aboard!



Voice/Text/Video:

Voice and Text will be necessary. Quad-Weekly voice sessions will be live group session. In between adventures downtime will take place in a play by mail format (not real time). You can relax and wait for the next voice session or have your PC or loyal NPCs do simple side quests or tasks to increase your wealth and influence. Webcams are optional. Privacy and anonymity will be respected if you don’t want your true names or faces revealed.


Recording, Podcasting, Livestreaming:

DM reserves the right to record the audio session and video record the FG program to produce a text based recap.
