The latest edition of Deadlands was just released and there are mechanic changes to the game.
How long does it usually take before an official ruleset is available for a new edition of a game?

How long is a piece of string?
When it is done, it will be done :)
Ikael is converting it, so it will rock, but be patient.
Lost Colony took me little time to convert, but it did not require LUA coding to rewrite SWADE game mechanics, Deadlands Weird West does.
Knowing that its actively being worked on relieves me. I was afraid that it'll be a while before anyone starts tackling it.
I was just looking for the answer to this question! Thank you for asking, and for the work already in progress! Is there any feel for what all will be included? I apologize for my ignorance. I'm new to fantasy grounds so I don't have a feel for what is normally included when something like this is ported into the system. If there's somewhere else I can look, please let me know and I'll head that direction.
Any chance we can get an update on either:
How long is a piece of string
Current progress of Deadlands : Weird West (aka Deadlands SWADE) conversion
I'd obviously like to know the later, but am willing to be distracted by the former.
Also, do we know yet if it will be an update to the existing ruleset or if it will be a new purchase? Feel free to distract me with another shiny if this isn't yet decided...
Pretty sure I heard somethere that it will be a new one and not an update. Also John just stole the string so someone needs to get it back before it can be measured
I don't have an issue with purchasing Deadlands again, there's loads of new stuff in the update.
What are the systemic changes? I just added a few things into the normal SWADE module and so far I cannot see any changes here that deviate from SWADE so far?
It's an entirely new product with its own SKU from Pinnacle -- the SWD edition is Deadlands: Reloaded while the new SWADE edition is Deadlands: The Weird West -- and so it will also be a new product here on FG.
As for an ETA, it's SmiteWorks' policy that they do not announce release dates unless/until they're positive the product will make that date. An individual developer can always state that they're working on any given project, or give status updates but once that project is submitted to QA it's out of our hands. TL;DR -- it'll get released when it's done. :)
I would like to at least try to work on CorePRG+, I'm comfortable in Python, I use R and MATLAB as well. I used Lua some time ago when working on Minecraft Mod called Computercraft.
What would I need to learn and edit CoreRPG+ to convert or at least edit the system to get some of my favorite systems?
FWIW @Ikael said Pinnacle only provided him with 50% of the art assets needed. It's basically done and if push comes to shove, it will be released sans art then have the remaining art patched into a post-release update. Just depends on how the decision falls, and it's the holiday season now so I don't think I'd look for anything til next month at the earliest.
Artless with working theme and automation is better than no release :)
Release go-ahead will be up to Pinnacle, they may not want it released until it is complete.
I keep thinking the FG release has happened every time this thread gets bumped.
So do I. And each time disappointed. The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if they are delaying the release of the art so they can complete the release for Foundry hoping they avoid any competition and people simply buy from the Pinnacle Store and use foundry for their products. I definitely hope that isn't the case but understand why they would do so.

DON'T PANIC.
Deadlands: The Weird West adaption work has finally started with full force. I will be announcing details regarding the progression in FantasyGrounds discord channel.
Hooray!
It will be great if you post also updates or some vague ETA here too! :) Maybe January/February?
I cannot comment on Smiteworks QA and release pipeline. However on my behalf unless something unexpected happens, I plan to finish modules during next week. So ETA is January or February
Update: I have finished the adaption work, committed all material for Smiteworks and final QA testing and release preparation phase has started.
Thank you hopefully it hits the store soon :)
Hi Ikael,
Thank you so much for your hard work and determination. You are a huge boon to this community! Do you have any word back from Smiteworks on when the QA and preparation phase will complete and the module/setting will be available in the store? My players and I are so super stoked to kick a long-term Deadlands Weird West campaign off and Fantasy Grounds Unity will be our playground...
Thanks again for everything you do!

Oh that sounds promising. Good to hear :)
I know Blood Drive is currently available in the store for the DLR edition, but is there any chance it will get updated for SWADE based on the recent Kickstarter? Reading through the pre-release version of the pdf sent to backers now and I’m not seeing huge changes. If not, it’s almost as easy to just use the new version of Deadlands when it’s available and SW Maker to copy/paste the NPCs in from the pdf then bother with purchasing the existing FG modules and having to convert them myself.
I swear the title of this topic needs to be changed. Every time it pops up, I grab my wallet and go straight to the store. HAHA!
Deadlands Weird West is AVAILABLE NOW!!
