Mongoose Traveller Ruleset

Ok I have made some progress (a little) and I am beginning to understand how the Classic ruleset works but now I need some Traveller New Era advice.

From what I have read in the core rulebook in a characters career they can move from service to service providing they qualify but in the Classic Traveller ruleset (and I don't have the classic rulebook) it appears that they only have one service and specialisation as it appears in the career summary at the top (see attachment).

So should I modify the career page to remove service and office/branch/arm from the summary window at the top and modify the term window under career history to look something like:

Is this better/worse is there anything else I should include? Is there a better place I should be asking these sorts of questions?

I just realised I have been referring to Traveller New Era when I mean Mongoose Traveller!!!

So for clarity I am developing or trying to develop the FG2 ruleset for Mongoose Traveller (MT).

Yes, whatever I'd done so far should be passed on to the developer who picks it up. The character sheet and NPC sheet is done - though it probably needs to be moved on to the new Foundation Core as it's old tech now. The combat tracker needs doing. IIRC, I made a start on a module.

I do not know how to program or anything about how to make a rule set but I do know the rule and would be able to help in that field.

I'm currently working on Traveller 5 for Hero Lab, and would love to get T5 into FGII.

Last I read the books were going to be coming out in January. I don't have any of the beta material, so I'm using my classic books as a reference.

I'd love to help on an FGII project. Is Foundations a good place to start?

I've done an extension to the Classic Traveller ruleset that supports T5 (and I do have the Beta material). It presently a alpha release. It has a character sheet but items, NPCs and Ships needs to be modified. T5 needs no rules-automations. The rules are very simple. Add Stat + skill = Target Level. Roll a number of dice (more for difficult tasks, less for simpler) under the TL. Eg. for a routine task roll 2D under TL. If you don't have Skill Level = # of dice to roll, then you have to add 1D to the pool. Ig. if you lack the necessary skill things get more difficult.

Example: landing a spaceship is a routine task. Pilot and Dex are used. A PC with Dex 8 and Pilot 2 would have to roll under 10 with 2D. A PC with Dex 10 and Pilot 0 would have to roll under 10 with 3D.

The dicepools can easily be stored in hotkey slots. The CT ruleset is OGL, so is my extension. Drop me a message if you want a copy.

Yes I am.

Progress is not that quick but I am slowly working on it. I have based it on the Foundation ruleset and completed the main, career history and skills pages.
