If real, it's the most sadistic marketing choice ever seen.

So let's wait and see what the kickstarter is about.
Are there any rumors?
As far as FGU itself, here's a summary FAQ of what we "know" which is not a lot:
https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forum...unds-Unity-FAQ
As far as the Kickstarter itself, no news yet about backer levels, stretch goals, timeline, etc. We'll learn some of that at least on May 1st.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Fantasy Grounds Friday's touch upon the subject this week.
I love bringing existing maps to life and adding in all the missing details. Something that was fun in my days using minis was watching the players faces when I brought the set out. Now with this update it will help bring some of that back:)
Awww don't - I was just being a bit cheeky :)

That's a link to the feature I was talking about though.
Tune in for Fantasy Grounds Fridays this week and we will share a bit more news. We will reveal more and more as we near May 1st.
#noshenanigans
Can you call #noshenanigans when we know you have a Shenanigans t-shirt? How do we know you aren't wearing this as you made that post? :)
I'm so excited for this to be finally happening! Time to prepare throwing money at Smiteworks :D
Where did you buy your Shenanigans shirt and do they come in 4XL?
I guess my first question - will the Unity version work with DisplayLink?
Good luck. Here's hoping we get a working MVP delivered soon with features bundled later. I would hate for stretch goals or new version features to slow down this release. A 64-bit multi-platform backwards compatible app with modern GPU performance should do it. Thank you.
I'm not familiar with DisplayLink at all. Sorry.
Making announcements on April 1st is not a vert good decision but if this is real, i can't wait.
DisplayLink is a driver used by USB docks to allow multiple monitors to be used. I know it is used by my Dell USB dock, but I think it is used by others as well. (i.e. top allow a USB connection to the dock that then has HDMI or DisplyPort connections to multiple monitors).
If you want a setup you can test it with, let me know. But I don't see how you can try to test compatibility with every type of driver out there :)
So I have to make Kickstarter account now? :O
SmiteWorks, I beg you on my knees : PLEEEEAASE give us a good documentation. The actual one is so old. I'm ready to pay a supplement for a good SDK for rulesets, modules, etc.
They updated their Facebook page about an hour ago saying the kickstarter launches May 1. It's looking like it's for reals!

But Doug does still have that shanigan's t-shirt... :)
I will .... 'Curb my enthusiasm' as the kick starter is announced on the 1st of May, but technically we have been informed about FGU for over 2 years now, so lets see what the 'delivery date 'is ..
Signed... Cynic :)
*lol* exactly my point.
We really don't expect SW to test for compatibility with every driver for every piece or hardware do we? (We are easily talking trillions of combinations.) Let's trust that they use best practices for Unity and that Unity addresses most compatibility issues and then if we (the users) discover some driver doesn't work that SW will be willing to make reasonable attempts to resolve? But, just as like with LOTR, you might have to come up with a specific use case work around.
Is the new platform gonna be able to run on phones and tablets?
Nice. I look forward to seeing the pricing structure for those of us holding lifetime licenses already.
Yes, you will still be able to work offline.
If you consider what currently you have, I think the answer is clear - you need internet to play with friends remotely, local network connectivity if you are all at home and no internet if you will do something locally such as preparation for a game or simply reading a module.
This is excellent news....so long waited for
Will the different tiers of pledges be revealed Friday? Due to differing timezones it's late night tv here, but since I have some days off, I may tune in. Very curious.
DOUG, I CAN'T STAND IT ANYMORE! JUST TELL US EVERYTHING NOW!!!
ok, breathing again... I'll wait. Just not patiently :p
