It looks like this that was reported back on October 12, 2024 has reappeared or is still in effect:
Bug Report - Level Up A5e - Cannot add Cultures Traits to Character Abilities tab
Fantasy Grounds Version:
v4.6.6 ULTIMATE (2025-02-20)
Ruleset for Loaded Campaign:
Dungeons and Dragons (5e)
Failure occurs when either "Legacy" or "2024" is selected as the 'Game: Rules Version' in the Options settings.
Extensions selected:
"Feature: Level Up Advanced 5th Edition"
This is the versioning information for the extension that is displayed in the Chat window after Fantasy Grounds loads the campaign:
"Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition extension
(2024-04-27) for Fantasy Grounds
Copyright 2022 Smiteworks USA, LLC"
Books/Modules Activated:
Level Up Advanced 5e Adventurer's Guide
Level Up Advanced 5e Trials and Treasures
Level Up Advanced 5e Monstrous Menagerie
The modules above are the only ones that should be activated in order to reproduce the bug/failure described here. If any WotC Legacy or 2024 Core Player's Rules D&D modules are loaded and activated, the D&D 2024 or D&D Legacy character building "Ancestries" subrace selection process will be triggered if attempting to create a character with any Level Up A5e Heritage other than Orcs or Planetouched.
Steps to reproduce:
- Under the PLAYER section of right side menu choices, Click the 'CHARACTERS' button to open the CHARACTERS window, and click the '+' (Add Item) button to create and display a new character sheet.
- On the Main tab of the Character sheet window, click the '+' (Add Item) button located to the right of the HERITAGE field. Alternatively, under the CHARACTER section of right side menu choices, Click the 'HERITAGES' button to open the HERITAGES window.
- On the HERITAGES window, click and drag one of Heritage items listed onto the HERITAGE field of the character sheet Main tab. This should trigger a 'SELECT GIFT' pop-up window.
- Select and confirm one of the Heritage gifts in the 'SELECT GIFT' window. This should populate the HERITAGE field of the character sheet with the Heritage name and also populate all of the associated Heritage and Heritage Gift Features and Traits on character sheet Abilities tab. Also observe that text will appear in the Chat window detailing what has been added to the character sheet.
A tangential bug to note in the text displayed in the Chat is that the Heritage added uses the word "Species" instead of the word "Heritage". This is incorrect. "Species" is what WotC 2024 D&D uses in place of origin biological racial/lineage/ancestry/heritage characteristics. Level Up Advanced 5e refers to this as "Heritage".- Under the CHARACTER section of right side menu choices, Click the 'CULTURES' button to open the CULTURES window.
- On the CULTURES window, click and drag one of the listed Culture items onto the HERITAGE field of the character sheet Main tab. This should populate the HERITAGE field of the character sheet with the Culture name in parenthesis after the Heritage name.
This should also populate the character sheet in many places with any associated Culture Features, Traits, Ability score adjustments, Proficiencies, etc., but observe that it fails to do this automatically as expected.- On the CULTURES window, select and open the window with the details for the Culture you attempted to add in the previous step.
- Open the Abilities tab view on the character sheet.
- Click and drag one of the Traits listed in the Culture details window from step 7 onto the TRAITS section of the character sheet Abilities tab.
Observe the failure behavior that nothing happens. The expected behavior is that any Features, Traits, Ability score adjustments, Proficiencies, etc., that are associated with the Culture added to the character would be populated on the character sheet in the appropriate places.
Bug Report - Level Up A5e - Adding Backgrounds to Main tab of Character sheet throws error in Console
Fantasy Grounds Version:

- Under the Character section of right side menu choices, Click the 'BACKGROUNDS' button to open the Backgrounds window.
- From the BACKGROUNDS window click and drag one of the listed backgrounds onto the BACKGROUND field of the Main tab of the new character sheet.
- Observe that the Console window opens with an error message that reads,
"[ERROR] Script execution error: [string "Level_Up:scripts/manager_char_A5E.lua"]:398: attempt to call field 'onAbilitySelectDialog' (a nil value)".
Also observe that a 'SELECT PROFICIENCIES' window pops up with an appropriate list of proficiencies to select from which will add the Skill proficiency on the Skills tab of the character sheet, and that many of the Features and Proficiencies or Abilities attributes adjustments associated with the particular background selected do get populated on the Character sheet as expected.
Thanks for the comprehensive reports; sounds like a recent update broke something again. I've alerted the extension developer.
Just pushed some updates to that extension, which I believe should address the two issues you reported. Thank you for the detailed reports. Please run a new Check for Updates to get the latest version.

Wow, thanks so much for the very quick response JPG. Those issues do appear to be fixed.
I'm noticing some ERROR and WARNING messages being thrown in the client connected console upon loading the Level Up A5E extension in a client connection.
Looks like they're associated with the A5E specific encumbrance and "Supply" fields on the character sheets.
Happens with both a direct LAN localhost connection and when connected through a cloud session.
Don't see them when it's loading up in the host.
Latest 4.7.1 Ultimate version with "Feature: Level Up Advanced 5th Edition" as the only extension selected.
Doesn't seem to have any negative effect while playing though I haven't done any extensive testing or tracking of the issue.
Console logs are attached and here is a sample of what appears in the console.log file:

Just pushed a hot fix that should resolve that issue on the player side. The extension was missing an check that was in the base 5E ruleset. I don't maintain the ruleset; but just trying to help during the new release cycle.

I noticed that the LU:A5E extension removes the button link to the Character Wizard from the Character Selection window, would it be possible for it to also the button links to the Subclasses on the Classes window and Ancestries on the Heritages window?

Attachment 64784
The character wizard button was removed because it doesn't work for A5e characters. It is still possible to use legacy or 2024 characters in an a5e campaign so I'm not sure why the subclass and ancestry buttons should also go away.
