Official Pathfinder Modules Bug Report Thread

And, again... The source for Magnimar appears to be correct, and when I zip it up into a module (and use that to supplant the Vault's version), lo and behold, the broken links work fine (well, the ones that I have so far identified as not working with the Vault version).

As far as I understood it, these version-controlled files are the same ones that should comprise the zipped version that comes from SmiteWorks.

So... I don't get it. I'll report back as soon as I can talk it over with Dominic.

Towns of The Inner Sea seems to have .. a few errors

Anyone knows what happened to the goblins on the sidebar of the official PF1 theme? They looked so good, and now they've been replaced by some generic boxes. What can I do to fix this? I did a search for "goblins theme" in the forum and couldn't find anything, thought I am not sure how well the search works.

Okay, I scrolled back a couple pages and one of the developers I assume is saying that the goblin "functionality no longer exists".

Why?

If for whatever reason the developers no longer like the goblins, can we please get the files for it? We paid for it, no?

I don't understand how the prettiest aspect of that theme can be stripped away without even an explanation? And I might wake up tomorrow and the theme might be blank, because the functionality no longer exists?

Themes can still use graphical buttons; it just isn't the official way of doing things.
I agree it's too bad because the art already exists, but the new smaller sidebar buttons mean the art would have to be re-worked and having the art makes it harder to make changes to those buttons.

Well we can make the buttons larger. Some people have 4K screens. And even at 1080p there'd be enough space. But where do I get the goblins?

Its actually noon CST/CDT.

this is very minor. Human skeleton NPC in Mummy's mask AP1 has hit dice HD coded as (1d8)
which list as an error when you use it into the chat window pointing me to this thread.
i rechecked all the rest of the supplied monsters and they all seem okay. so i edited my version to work

When using the `IFT: SIZE(>=Large)` effect, if a creature has a type with 2 lines such as:

Awakened flesh golem
CE Large construct

The IFT condition does not work properly. This also happens with characters who have "Race, Class & Level" as the first line of an NPC type.

Do you have an example screen shot? Have you tried without the extra line?

I don't have one handy at the moment, but we encountered this with "The Scarecrow" from chapter 2 of Rise of the Runelords. He's a large enemy with the specific 2 line type I posted above.

Give a player this effect:
`IFT: SIZE(>=Large); ATK:1`

This should add 1 to attack rolls vs all large or greater sized creatures. Attack The Scarecrow and it will not add 1. If you switch the two lines of the "type" field so it's

CE Large construct
Awakened flesh golem

The effect works properly. It appears that the word "Large" must be in the first line of the type field text for the effect to work properly. I can give a screenshot later if you need more help reproducing this.

Yes, the code that checks was designed to assume that the <alignment> <size> <type> is the first thing in the Type field; so this has been around for awhile. It looks like the PF stat block format and data in the fields has drifted over time. I'll see if I can make it a per-line check for that format.

Excellent! This wouldn't really be a problem if I was entering this data myself. The big issue is that this is how many many many of the custom NPCs are set up in pre-packaged campaigns like "Rise of the Runelords". Without the effect checking multiple lines of the type fields, or without editing every NPC which has a 2-line type field, these types of effects just flat out don't work with the official released FG content.

I have always included the PF Naval Combat module as a matter of course, even though I could never figure out how to get it to work. Today, all of my PCs appear in the combat tracker as per the attachment. Looks to me like the new software version broke the module.
However, I also just threw a swath of modules on to enable the Extended Spellbook, so that may be part of it too.
However, disabling the naval combat module seems to have fixed things so that's more evidence it's the naval combat?

Since the potential culprit is suspected to be the Naval Combat extension, I wouldn't necessarily rely on reverse logic (that it is disabled and everything else works). You may want to try disabling all your other extensions and *only* having the naval combat one loaded to see if the problem still exists. Generally, all extensions override basic code to either add or change functionality so you don't want to work with multiple variables. Therefore, it is best to start with just the one loaded. If it is a problem, you found it. If it works, then try loading back each extension one at a time and loading to see when it breaks. Then it helps determine the environment that is causing the issue. This not only pertains to this particular instance but is advice for any future potential extension issues you might have in the future (a good troubleshooting mechanism).

I'm not getting that error with the Naval Combat extension by itself.

Went through systematically adding modules until I triggered the bug, then stripped back to confirm. It's caused by interaction between the Naval Combat extension and the Extended Automation and Overlays extension. As Naval Combat is official, I'm gathering the right thing to do would be to report the problem to the developer of Extended Automation and Overlays?

I know of this incompatibility, but I mentioned it in a hidden way, I think :) (for example here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forum...l=1#post452699. I am not sure whether I mention it on the forge page)

Right now I have sadly no intent to make both versions compatible. On one hand I would need to purchase it, and on the other hand I got already an older version from the dev in the past: It would be difficult to make my extension compatible with naval combat without implementing the features of naval combat. (Not difficult but tedious) And, at least the last time I looked at it, its code was a bit outdated compared with the actual ruleset code (even if it didn't throw errors it may still overwrite certain newer codes). But the latter may not apply anymore :)

In my personal opinion I find it okay to sell extensions via the shop as long as its code does not interfere with the ruleset code. But this extension changes a lot of the base code and then it should rather be in the base ruleset itself :) Would have the advantages that community devs have easy access and no-one accidentally forgets to maintain it even if the corresponding community dev is gone :) (naval combat does not come directly from SmiteWorks if I am not wrong)

So, right now you sadly have to decide whether you use naval combat or the extended automation extension; I am sorry for the inconveniences

Occult Adventures does not support building a Kineticist properly (if at all) on FGU. I have been attempting to build one for a player for several hours and have the following problems.
1) Lvl 1 provides not ability to choose an element and thus doe not grant Blast (actions) or Elemental Defense options. EG: no Basic Hydrokenisis, Kintectic Blast Cold, or Shroud of Water (because) NO ABILITY to choose (or manually add) Element Choice.
2) Expanded Element AT ALL LEVELS does not give any ability to choose a new (or same) element... Thus ZERO composite blasts.
3) No support (choice at lvl, manually add) for ANY Wild Talents OR Infusions. Thus, no slick, no Wings of Air, no Kinetic Whip, etc.

The character levelling is very basic in Pathfinder; and does not provide features for making choices nor handling advanced features. It only handles basics, like HP, saves, skills, favored class, and basic links to class abilities in class record. All choices and other additions granted by class features need to be handled manually.

Fantasy Grounds does not offer a full-fledged character builder or character manager for Pathfinder 1.

I dont need it to handle EVERTHING. But I do need the ability to add BASIC functions of the Kineticist to the PC. For example... I cannot add Kinetic Blast- Cold... Because there is no way (that I can see) to tell FGU that the added "weapon" targets Touch AC not regular AC.
Nor is there any provision for adding infusions.

I "can" add wild talents like "Slick" by giving the PC the spell grease (and manually changing the DC) or Celerity by giving haste (and manually changing DC). But how do I add "pushing infusion" or Cloud Infusion or Wall Infusion??? These are BASIC parts of the class... Why are they missing??

Several months back it was reported that the Pathfinder module Crypt of the Everflame has some formatting errors with the text, specifically quotes, em dash, and "smart" double quotes missing and instead showing as a square glyph. Looking at the xml for my local campaign copy of some of the module text, it appears all the "bad" characters are represented using standard HTML character encoding syntax, i.e. (

. Fantasy Grounds isn't rendering these HTML encoded characters and instead just shows a square glyph.

Is this a bug in FantasyGrounds itself or should the module not be using HTML encoded characters for things like single quotes, smart quotes, em and en dashes, etc? Oddly, when I corrected some of the double quotes in my local campaign, they get saved as

so it appears Fantasy grounds can render some HTML character encodings. It's almost like the font used in the story window in Fantasy Grounds doesn't have those other characters defined so it just shows the square glyph.

Is there any estimate on when this might be fixed or is there an easy way I can local do a global find and replace on the text of the module in my local storage and turn the "bad" characters into valid ones? It seems the module text only gets saved locally if I modify the story element. It would be pain to unlock and edit each chapter to get a local copy of the text so then I can replace the bad chars.

PS: Sorry for the wonky formatting. Typing HTML encoded chars in a post gets turned into the characters. :-D I ended up dropping the semicolon to prevent the rendering, but hopefully you get the idea.

To followup on my previous message, it appears that the story window is treating the text as ISO-8859-1, which does not have characters 128 through 159 defined, which explains why the UTF-8 encoding for left/right quote, smart quotes, and dashes are not rendering. If I instead use the known ISO-8859-1 HTML character codes for smart quotes in my local xml of some of the story text, then they do show up.

So, despite the xml claiming in the header that it is UTF-8, best I can determine, the text is being interpreted by Fantasy Grounds as ISO-8859-1.

Short answer:
We have been fixing modules with this issue as they are reported, which is caused by some issues in the way FG Classic used to save data.

The module specifies ISO-8859-1 in the data XML, which was the default for modules created in FG Classic (which this one was). One of the last updates for FGC was to update the export routines to rewrite these characters to ASCII equivalents; but that does not affect already published adventures. Due to the way that Win32 applications work (which was FGC), it actually displayed certain characters not technically in ISO-8859-1 (which is called Windows-1252 encoding), and the FGC font engine only cared that the string was single-byte.

With the move to FG Unity, it supports UTF-8 encoding as the default (multi-byte strings). However, these extra Windows-1252 characters (that are not valid ISO-8859-1 values) are being read as invalid characters by the built-in C# .NET libraries when trying to be converted to UTF-8 from XML, because they technically are not valid ISO-8859-1 values.

I went ahead and updated the data file manually; and uploaded a new version to the patch system. Please run a Check for Updates, and try again.

You may also want to revert the module in the Module window (right click on module entry, and select menu option); which will reset the module back to the "factory default" for that campaign.

Nor is there any provision for adding infusions.

I "can" add wild talents like "Slick" by giving the PC the spell grease (and manually changing the DC) or Celerity by giving haste (and manually changing DC). But how do I add "pushing infusion" or Cloud Infusion or Wall Infusion??? These are BASIC parts of the class... Why are they missing??

Could you shortly say what these abilities do? Then we can try to provide help how to add these abilities :) (I have sadly no idea about kineticists and never really heard of them)

About touch for weapons: Add touch as property to the weapon, then it will be a touch weapon :) If it is a short-time effect (like just for the next attack), then click the modifier window (the plus/minus button at upper right) and there is a touch modifier button :)

Hi again,

I noticed a couple more modules suffer from the UTF-8 to ISO-8859-1 sadness: "A0: Crow's Rest Island", "Well Met in Kith'takharos" (which is particularly sad since the name Kith'takharos uses the unmapped quote character and it is used on almost almost every page several times :D).

This got me wondering, would one be able to write an extension to auto-map the text of the bad chars to good ones? Being a programmer by trade, I've been meaning to look into extension writing, but wasn't sure if that level of parsing would be doable via lua scripts interacting with a window's text contents from commercial modules.
