This is not any different than 90% of the software, especially games, that gets released these days. It needs months of patches to get right. The only difference is that we'd all be honest about it at the get-go instead of the publisher pretending it's complete :) It basically adds some honesty to the transaction.

Is there any word whether Starfinder will be getting FG support at launch or shortly after? because that would be pretty damn cool, IMO.
All I can remember is that SmiteWorks did acquire a license for Starfinder. I don't recall if that announcement stated that it would be a simultaneous release or not. 5E products have released simultaneously but the whole Paizo licensing is recent, so it's a matter of whether or not whomever was assigned to handling the FG conversion is able to do it on shorter notice or not. Great news on the Starfinder license (as it's a new IP perhaps it could get the full 5e treatment?). I don't have an ETA yet. The last update I received was that there are some updates that still need to be done on the Paizo side but they are waiting for the personal responsible to return to the office after a few weeks of medical leave. They are expected back in the office for the week of April 17 as far as I know.

I was thinking of inquiring about making map sets for the PF modules like Kingmaker and Carrion Crown and this might be the right opportunity. I've made a map for every encounter in the module even if they didn't provide a map based on the description plus a collection of general maps for the area to be used for random encounters. Would this be something that could be helpful if you're going to release the 6 book modules? They could be done as a separate set or included in the modules.
I've even used FG with all the players at the table with laptops playing through a hub. Just like online except no paper, dice or miniatures but still the personal group playing together. I like using top down tokens so a miniatures as it gets.
Why don't you just put together a map module for each adventure/module? You can make a thread for each one and post it on the forums here (assuming they are all maps you have permission to distribute). The most recent version (3.3.0) has improved some of this automation for PFRPG in preparation for the release of the licensed Paizo modules. We can now drag and drop the race and class onto the character sheet, which will auto-populate race and class abilities. While not as polished as 5E, it will be an improvement over what we've had, to date. What we currently lack are the licensed Paizo modules to go with the function. We're currently operating with MODs that were designed with the knowledge that drag and drop didn't exist for PFRPG and so much of what is there isn't a record that can be dragged and dropped.
I still use PC-Gen for character creation (export as XML, import XML into FG).
Oh man, this is getting down to the wire, I hope it comes out real soon.
I start running a Kingmaker game on June 3rd. If this isn't going to be out by then I need to start building maps right now. If it will be out by then I am good.
I felt that way with two separate groups I'm running through Rise of the Runelords. I started those in February!
I second the recommendation of PCGen, I can't realistically see Pathfinder getting to the level of class automation that 5e has because of all the options that are available. Although this may change with 5e as more 3rd party publishers are producing more 5e material.

Aye, I saw the release notes which is how I ended up checking the forums for more information about where it was at.
You said that when you drop Race and Class into the character sheet for PFRPG that it is auto-populating the race and class abilities, but when I dragged Half-Orc and Barbarian onto my son's character sheet and looked at the Abilities tab it was still blank in all four spaces (Feats, Class Abilities, Proficiency, and Racial Traits). Did you mean skills since I do see those are getting checked as Class Skills where appropriate? or is there something I'm missing? or is there a difference between the functionality for Standard and Ultimate with regard to PFRPG automation? I currently have Standard and am running Version 3.3.0.
I've played around with the community modules for PFRPG that I found on the forums, but haven't had any better luck with them. Though I only just tried them out last night.

None of the community modules have the newer data paths, that's part of the problem. The SRD modules (I think) have a couple of the new ones, but they're withholding all of them until the official content is out in the wild. Once that happens, if the community modules are updated to support the new data paths, they will work with the new drag/drop functions. Otherwise, not.
The issue isn't function -- it totally works. The issue is that the current SRD modules don't have the data stored in the right locations in the XML and some of it is not tagged with the correct data classification. Those functions are new, the modules are old. Once the stuff Doug is talking about is released, the data modules will be formatted correctly to work with the new functions of 3.3.0.Quote:
