If you want to play one-shots, there is no need for recording in Solo Play. But if you decide to play a long campaign, you'll need some form of recording to be consistent. Don't just think of it as in text form. You can also list only the things in your scenes OR keep a audio / video journal.
# Why Journaling?
- To get yourself up to speed in later sessions
- Solidify your PCs' actions and give them a meaning in the game world
- Enrich your campaign with readily available RECURRING NPCs, Villains, characters with interactive backstories.
- To use your PC in higher tier adventures with an established backstory.
- Keeps your thoughts focused in the moment, in the story, because you've got to concentrate when writing.
- Because in solo play you are the GM and the player, you describe the scene as it unfolds, but in a solid way. You can go back and refer to it later.
- It helps to visualize and react to scenes.
# Minimalistic Approach
WRITE only a short sentence or two that describes a scene;
- At the beginning of the scene to set the mood
- At the end of the scene to record additional NPCs, events, etc, that might enter into the game and of course, the conclusion of the events in the scene.
*OR - If you're using it as a Roleplay Style, it will be your PC's "Dear Diary".
