OVERVIEW OF SOLO PLAY:

  • Pick Your ORACLE / SOLO SYSTEM: Learn the guidelines of it. Think of an 8-ball in rollable table form. Which is a Randomized YES / NO Answer Generator for your questions about the story you'll unravel. Such as Mythic GM Emulator's Fate Chart.

  • PREP MINIMALLY: And I repeat, minimally. As described here. There is a huge reason for this. Too Much Info is just an obstacle that turns your sessions into a slugfest. 1. Create Your PC. 2. Equip it. 3. Give your PC a quest. 4. Flesh out the quest by asking questions. 5. Optionally, give your PC an obstacle. 6. Place the PC in a place.

  • Pick a "MODE OF PLAY" and stick with it: "0. FGU Maps", "1. Theater of the Mind", "2. Typing/Writing", "3. Narration", "4. Journalling", "5. Audio / Video Recording", "6. AI Tools." It's all here.

  • Use "THE CORE GAMEPLAY LOOP" to create content: 1. ASK QUESTONS depending on current Context - 2. Use FREEFORM ASSOCIATION - 3. ROLL the Oracle for an Answer - 4. INTERPRET the result - 5. DETERMINE what happens - 6. PLAY in any Mode. Aka Content Creation Method.

  • Use "FREEFORM ASSICIATION" when you need more than a YES / NO answer. FFA is an improvisation method where you link randomly generated words into a coherent (piece of a) story. Just as in Improv Theater. Learn about it in here.

  • Consider "MECHANICS OF GAME STORY": 1. Main goal of PC, 2. Scene goal, 3. Conflict, 4. Action & Reaction Chain, 5. Consequences of Actions, 6. Resolving Conflict. As described here.

  • Continue CHAINING SCENES with what you've learned so far. And END your session WITH a CLIFFHANGER to provide yourself motivation for your next session. End of the Session.

  • Don't worry about your game if your PC DIES an early death. For "...with strange aeons even death may die."

I will explain all of these in their own respective entries. And go into detail of each subtopic. This is just an easy reference list that you might want to look up after you learned the ropes.
