Was just wondering if anyone was working on a new or modified ruleset for naval combat. Especially in the predreadnaught 1880's thru world war two era 1945?

I'm seriously thinking of starting a new rules set, but was curious if anyone out here has started a set?

Are you referring to a particular game called "Naval Combat" or just generally to games like Midway, Harpoon, etc.?

I've considered trying to play an old wargame via FG, my plan is to scan in the maps and the Combat Results Table and put them in the images folder, scan the counters and put them into the tokens folder, and just use those. The ruleset doesn't make much difference in that case.

Yes and no I was actually thinking of making a set using the Seekrieg 5 set of rules and convert into FG. At this time I would have to ask the makers of the game if that would be ok. I would just like to see any Naval done your idea sounds like a great idea also Wooden ships and Iron men would be a great one to try out on here.

Let me know if you want any help or have any more suggestions.

Hmm, just took a quick glance at Seekrieg's website, it looks like an interesting game. And one that would benefit from ruleset support more than the Avalon-Hill style boardgames I mostly play. At the very least a library module of the ship logs would be invaluable. And contacting the company is a really good idea. Hope they're willing to let you pursue it.

I know some of the FG RPG rulesets have been restricted to character-sheet only in order to keep it from being playable by people who hadn't bought the rules, and a similar principle may apply here. The company may be much more agreeable about ship logs and such than about the charts and damage tables.

Good luck!

True havent heard back from them as of yet. The rules are the best naval set i have ever played, very, very, very, indepth. I just think if I could convert the set into this format then others could play Seekrieg around the world and enjoy the game just as much as playing face to face.

I did like your idea of AH games that is why i mentioned Wooden Ships and Iron men and a basis to start something possibly. Much simpler game to work with.

Any more thoughts are welcome.
