Yet another FG newbie.

I've been playing D&D for 10 years now, have always enjoyed tabletop and decided to try and move the experience onto my laptop. So far I've actually managed to name a new local character!! = ) But, I haven't made any real headway on really figuring anything out. = (

If some kindly veteran (good alignment preferable) would give me a few pointers or maybe even go so far as to letting me join a game and possibly help me out that would be great. Very flexible economy forced hours.

The first thing is to get your location up in your profile. This makes it easier to ascertain when you'd be looking for a game. FGII has GMs and players all around the world. I quite frequently have US players in my Sunday evening game as it's an afternoon game for them.

There's a user guide in the Library section of the website. This is a good place to start for information on how to use the software. There are also video tutorials in the downloads section.

As to a game, I'm afraid both mine are a bit full at the moment and I don't tend to play D&D at all. I tend to play more modern and SciFi games. I'm sure someone will be along with game suggestions though.

The only problem I have with the library though is that they frequently use the mouse scroller as a tool, and I'm using a laptop so it's unnavailable to me.

What are my options on that exactly?

Sort of figured it out, but it's a better start than where I was, thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction. ^^

Honestly, my advice to you is go buy a cheap mouse with a scroll wheel. Aside from drag and dropping (also easier with a mouse usually) a lot of the FG interface relies on scrolling the mouse wheel. While there are usually alternative ways where you don't need a mouse, they can be fairly awkward. Given the cost of a cheap mouse I'd suggest saving yourself the hassle.

Get a cheap USB mouse for your laptop. Thats exactly what I did, because much of FG needs it. It'll save you from much aggitation and speed things up.
