Whats an Extension

Ok I've been away awhile. Fired things up this morning and ran head long into the new Open Foundation update. I like the concept, but I think I have missed a few things.

What is an extension and how should it be used? Is it a modification to a ruleset? or a Ruleset in it own right?

An extension is a set of graphics and data that can be loaded into a ruleset to change it's behaviour.

With the foundation ruleset this pretty much means that you can have a whole ruleset in the extension and run it straight of the bat which is a really nice thing.

An extension can also be a thing like a skin or just to change the behaviour of the program.
