View Full Version : Does FGII accept cut & paste of Rich Text?

Hello,

I am looking at buying a full-license of FII with a few lite licenses as a X-Mas gift to myself.

I read in a few places that all text imported nto FG was pasted as plain text, and had to be edited within the FG interface (i.e. to do Bold, Italic and Underline). Is that still true for FGII? This would seem very limiting when transferring existing campaign info to FGII.

Thanks in advance.

The formatting is lost when cutting and pasting. This is partially and historically because FG and FGII support certain customized formatting which is not part of rich text but belong to the context of RPGs. Boldface, italics, underline and some other formatting options are available in FGII, but they cannot be cut and pasted from rich text documents.

Hi Dosoga, and welcome to the FG forums (and happy Christmas, while I'm at it)!

You could try a two-stage cut and paste. First paste your rich text into a html editor (such as FrontPage), then switch to HTML view and copy and paste to the underlying database (db.xml) in FG.

Not elegant, I'd grant you, but might be helpful if you have a lot of text to copy.

It is worth noting that FG isn't strictly html - check out the FG Wiki for the set out tags FG accepts.

Cheers
