Hey there.

My friend just introduced this to me and I think it's an application with great potential.

We have a completely custom game system we have been playing for literally 15 years now and he's in the process of converting it into this app.

What I would like to do is create the library of rules we have.

I am wondering how one goes about that, and if it's possible to create it in such a way that he can easily import it into the ruleset he is creating.

Thanks.

I don't really know if this is answering your question... i'm still very new to most of this stuff myself, however, the thing I have been playing with most recently is creating adventure modules, which you could use pretty much like library books to use in different campaigns.

If you look from Fantasy Grounds Homepage there should be some video tutorials provided that show you how to do this.

Basicly you just need to type up the stuff you want in your book/module as if you where typing it up for an adventure or whatever, then type

/export

in the chat box, this brings up an option that allows you to drag and drop everything you want in the book/module. You will have to name it, and if you mess around with it there is a way to make the stuff you create show up in the library section, though thats a bit complicated for me to explains since i'm still not 100% sure if I'm doing it right, however, you can make the stuff available as modules that you can open or close in any campaign.

p.s.
another handy thing to know is the command

/reset ruleset

this reloads the ruleset so after you do the export tool, you want to use this command so you can see it in your options of modules, much better than having to quit the program and restart it.

SilaconScout, check out this tread: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6967&highlight=Library+modules

It is very possible to create a library of rules. The question you have to ask is - is it worth it? To the extent that the rules reference would be used vs. the effort required to input it is really an important question. If everyone knows the references, then there is really little need to put them in verbatim. You might find more worthwhile to make sure everyone has a word doc with your rules and just put the most commonly looked up parts in a library module rule book.
