View Full Version : Problems with Resizing an Image

I'm not sure if this is the proper place to post this. On the whole, I've been blown away by FG2, it's an amazing tool, and I am really glad that I paid for this.

I've resized a map using Photoshop CS, but when I go to open it with FG2, it opens much larger than the pixel size I had set in CS.

Is there anyone who understands how to fix this problem?

Thanks.

What did you do when you resized the image in Photoshop? Did you modify the image size in mm (or inches...), or did you resample the image to contain a different number of pixels? Fantasy Grounds II does not care about the rest of the measures but only about the pixel count. 1000 x 1000 pixels is shown exactly the same way regardless of it being 3 cm x 3 cm or 300 cm x 300 cm in Photoshop.

I reduced it to a number of pixels. I was wondering if it had to do with the resolution of the program?

If you reduced it below the minimum window size for an image, FG will rescale it up to exactly fit the image window. The default ruleset has this set at 200x200, but I can't imagine you wanted a map smaller than that.

The other thing that's been seen is that if you loaded up an image in FG and then altered the image size to be smaller, then when it loads up the next time, there will be a default window size in FG associated with that image. FG would then scale the image to that size. The fix for this is to delete the CampaignRegistry.lua file from the campaign's directory. Be aware that doing this will also delete all entries from the combat tracker, and there may be a few little things that I'm not aware of (especially if you're not using the default ruleset). Alternatively, you could try to figure out which entry corresponds to your image and just remove that entry from the campaign registry, but that would be a colossal pain.

Oh man, thank you so much, that was really helpful, that second suggestion is probably spot on.

I just got off an eight hour night shift so I'm gonna crash, but I'll try this fix later.

I see that mod in your quote/signature, so I'll ask you something else. Is there a mod that lets the players speak to only the DM and vice-versa? This eliminates a lot of problems, like playing full screen and using chat programs, etc.

Anyway, thanks a lot!

Being able to send messages to the DM only (or vice versa) is already a FG feature. If you're a player, you type "/w blah blah" to send "blah blah" to the DM. It'll appear only in his chat window. If you're the DM, you have to indicate who is supposed to receive the message, so you would type "/w Name blah blah".

What FG doesn't have by default is a way for players to send whispers to each other. I don't remember whether anybody's made a mod for that or not.

Players can whisper to each other in d20_jpg and 4e_jpg rulesets. There is also an option setting (like preferences in most programs) where you can control whether those whispers also go to the GM or not. You can get these rulesets on Four Ugly Monsters (https://www.fouruglymonsters.com/).

Thanks Dachannien, that did the trick. JUST ONE MORE QUESTION.

Is there a ruleset out there for the SW RPG or do I have to code my own?

If you mean Savage Worlds, then try savageworldsonline.net (https://savageworldsonline.net). If you mean Star Wars, then try this thread (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9162).

Finally, Oberoten has an FG wiki (https://oberoten.mine.nu/fgwiki/index.php/Category:Rulesets) which catalogs various rulesets.
