D20 Modern SRD Ruleset - Full & Lite Version

Good Day Everybody,

Soon I will be starting my own campaign and all the players will be getting a license to play. While navigating the different forums, I understand that licenses can be bought for your players, doing so become theirs after which there is nothing more that can be done to use them with someone else later. They are low cost so that is fine and just hoping that those I found are serious about playing my campaign.

The only thing right now that I want to find out is regarding the usages of D20 Modern SRD Ruleset which states the following:

"At this time this product is only compatible only with the FULL version of Fantasy Grounds II. Use with the LITE version is not supported at this time. LITE users can connect to a FULL user/host and play the d20 Modern ruleset, but cannot create characters "offline"."

It would be greatly appreciated to have someone confirm that I understood exactly the meaning of that paragraph before completing my purchase. My understanding is that lite license holder can use the set only while being connected with someone having the full license and set, otherwise a full license is needed for that and also create character in a "offline" mode. Therefore being the GM buying myself a full license with 4 lite for my players with the ruleset will allow them to use it while I am online with them, otherwise is simply something impossible at the moment.

You have it right. Your players will be able to connect to your game and play with the ruleset, it just won't be available to them when they are offline.

Just to avoid doubt: you will only need to buy one copy of d20 Modern and install it on your computer. As a GM, your installed rules are automatically transferred to your players while they are connected, but aren't useable by them when they are not connected.

Incidentally, your players can also have full licences and benefit from connecting to you without them having to buy the d20 Modern product, but they still won't be able to use it when disconnected from you.
