Complete n00b looking for a start

To start I would like to say hello to everyone since this is my first post on the forums. My name is Matt, I am a life long gamer, I started on MUD's years ago (I am 32 btw) and followed many types of mmorpg's proceeding. It seems that nowadays the RP in mmo's has become non-existent. I gave up on mmorpg's for various reasons and started searching for something to fill my gaming void. I came across openRPG and watched in on a couple sessions and the style of play in PnP really caught me. I went out and bought the 4E PHB immediately and became even more captivated after reading through some. I came across Fantasy Grounds this morning and thought to myself "this is just getting better by the moment" and purchased a license.

I am completely n00b to the world of PnP gaming and would like to get into an introduction game or a beginner friendly game if possible. I am not tied down to just 4E by any means. A friend is sending me his old 3.5 PHB and I will probably look into Shadowrun eventually. Any game would be good just to get my feet a little wet and put some fresh grease on my RP gears.

I am available anytime until Oct. 13. After the 13th I will be available Mon-Thurs: after 8pm Fri-Sun: Any time. (Eastern Time / GMT -5)

I am willing to use any type of VOIP software your group uses.

Welcome to the community. You shouldn't have a problem finding a game. I might suggest you look into Living Forgotten Realms as well. There is a group that gets together on a very regular basis.

Also, many are running Scales of War (free from Wizards of the Coast) and other Wizards adventures.

Again, welcome. This is a great forum for helping others out and making you feel like less of a "noob".

If you're interested in playing in a soon-to-be-starting every-other-Friday afternoon game (your time, I'm at GMT+1 where it runs 9pm - midnight so 3pm-6pm your time) using the Savage Worlds rules, drop me a PM. It will likely either be a modern horror or fantasy game depending on what the players want.

I've got a game starting Sunday 8pm evening UK time, so mid-afternoon for you. It's CJ Carella's WitchCraft using the Unisystem from Eden Studios. The game will only be a single 4 to 6 week scenario to start, but if the players like the system I could look at another one to follow.
