Hi there,

I am looking for software that will assist in creating City Maps. The catch is: I know nothing about cartography and get pretty confused using CC3. Fractals and polygons are not in my vocab...any ideas?

You can get some decent exterior building artwork all over, and DJ is definitely easier to use than CC3.

(I'm a CC3 nut by the way, so that's still my recommendation. The City Designer 3 add-on was just released at GenCon 08, too!)

CityDesigner 3, which is an add-on for Campaign Cartographer 3 is just about to be released. I know you expressed some apprehension about the program, but this iteration of CD will be extremely powerful. After getting over a bit of a learning curve, you will realize just how amazing a program it is.

Make sure you watch the John Sweeney tutorials, too--they really help grasp the basics of CAD-based mapping. You can fine them with a Google search easily, and I think I linked them elsewhere in a mapping thread.

this city map generator is very cool and useful. :)

This city map (https://forum.cartographersguild.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4543&d=1214140425) was produced using the city map generator and then porting the image in to CC3 for use as a layout template.
