Hallo all,

I have a campaign with some info and a map, exported as shared and indexed for the library to "Background"
I have a campaign with my adventure, which has Background loaded for reference info, exported as host to "Adventure"
I have a campaign with PCs, Adventure and Background are both checked and the little book is open so I can see both those modules.

Now, I have the following problem:
The map included in "Background" opens in a certain zoomed level and my clients cannot seem to zoom out (they can zoom out if they zoom in first, but only zoom out to the level the map opened in, not further).

My host can open the map (opens to the same zoomed level) and zoom out fine. I have tried opening the map in de Background campaign (opens to the same zoomed level), zooming out and re-exporting, but that doesn't change anything. (if I then close and reopen the Background campaign, the map opens zoomed in again, so it stands to reason the export didn't change anything).

I also tried removing the campaign registry in the Background campaign and re-exporting, that didn't change anything either. I haven't tried connecting the client to the Background campaign directly to see if they can zoom out there, but that would be slightly different, since in the PC campaign, this map will be in the library.

Any thoughts on this? I mean, it's playable now, but it's kind of annoying that the city map is always zoomed in to street level, never providing an overview of the city to the players.

How big in pixels is this map? It sounds like a pretty big map. I am surprised the clients can zoom at all actually.

Aye, it is pretty big, 2067x1535 pixels. Do you think it might be a data-transfer speed issue? If so, would a force load help in this? Hmm, come to think of it, I don't think so, since I experienced this problem while opening a player session on the same computer I was hosting the game on.

The default frame size is 700x700, anything over that on a client is going to "window" (it will window on the host to but you can resize it - clients can't). If you want the players to have a city map overview I would suggest you reduce the size of the map so 700 is the width of the map in the background module.

I played around with an image in a common module the last night because I was curious and the player couldn't zoom it. However the module was not build like you did and it was a library book module. You are sure the clients can actually zoom and not just pan? I may have to try building a module that way.

It is also worth noting that maps and images are sent to the client as uncompressed bitmaps, so what seems like a reasonable sized jpeg can be enormous from a data transfer point of view.

Ew, that's certainly something to take into account. I will play around a bit with this.
