Hi,
I'm wanting to run a 1e AD&D game. I'm a little confused at what is the right direction/ruleset. Should I use base OSRIC or 2e with the module? What is better and why?

Saw this and figured I'd copy/paste my Discord answer to this question for forum users...
For reference:
OSRIC Ruleset (https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/shop/items/890/view)
AD&D Options and House Rules Extension (https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/shop/items/688/view)
It depends on what you have and what you're trying to do. The OSRIC ruleset is stripped-down 2E and works with both the OSRIC books available on the Forge and the 2E books available in the store. It's designed to match OSRIC rules, regardless of which books are used.
For the 2E ruleset (instead of using the OSRIC ruleset), you can also use either the OSRIC books or the 2E ones.
With the AD&D Options and House Rules extension tacked on to either one, you'll get further options depending on ruleset.
If you're using the OSRIC books with the 2E ruleset, I'd certainly recommend the extension since you're likely looking for a 1E style of gameplay.
I'd also get the extension with the OSRIC ruleset if you're looking for a 1E playstyle.
It really comes down to how much you want to tweak your stuff and how familiar you are with FG.
For running 1E the OSRIC way, the OSRIC ruleset has the lowest barrier to entry.
If you own the 2E books, and you're familiar with the 2E ruleset and FG, 2E + the extension gives you the most configurable experience possible.
If you opt for the 2E ruleset plus the extension, the attached image shows a reasonable setup to get a 1E/OSRIC playstyle.

-- Note that the AD&D 1E Properties extension in the Forge is not needed if you're using OSRIC or AD&D Options and House Rules, and it's superseded in those cases. I believe it still works because it's quite simple, but it only changes a few things, like ability score modifiers, monster attack matrices, and helping to get a basic attack matrix built and used in the 2E ruleset (both OSRIC and AD&D Options and House Rules do this).
