View Full Version : Map window goes gray when player uses Increase Size button

I have been encountering an issue with map windows for at least 6 months, intermittently. I have not reported it before now, because a) I was hoping other people would notice and report it; and b) it is very hard to replicate it, and even difficult to describe it. This has cropped up on the latest version of FG (currently 5.1.9), with a variety of maps, across many campaigns.

This is the best I can do to describe the issue:

I share the map, when at least one player is not connected.
The late player joins, and I share the map with them also (usually by dropping the record icon onto their portrait).
All players can view the map normally as a floating window.
If the late player clicks 'Increase Size', the map goes to the background, but only shows the colour gray, and all map controls are lost. The player is not able to interact with the map, or even close it.
The only way for the player to get out of this state is for me to stop sharing the image. If I share it again, they can again use the floating window normally, but if the late player clicks Increase Size, the window becomes gray and locked again.

Admittedly, I run with many extensions, but I have not been able to do a process of elimination. I cannot replicate the issue in my own testing, either in my fully loaded campaign, or in my stripped-down test campaign. All I can do is start to document each instance here, in the hopes that I will be able to better define the pattern, or that someone else sees the same thing, and is able to replicate it.

Instance date: Tue-May-26 (Curse of Strahd)

Encountered the issue, as above, with the following additional notes:

The map had been shared previously with the whole group, with no issues, and then I revoked sharing. (I think this may be a part of the recurring pattern, but not 100% certain.)
The issue even recurred for the late player after I made a copy of the map, and shared the copy with everyone at once. (I don't know what to make of this.)

Regarding the second bullet, I do wonder if it has to do with my style of map preparation, which is layer-heavy. The image layers are an extremely powerful tool, but from my experience, a frequent source of bugs--probably the most frequent source of bugs that I encounter.

Can you provide a copy of the campaign? Do I already have the campaign? (I got a Curse of Strahd campaign from someone recently.)

I run the campaign with the official WotC module, along with my own prep modules. Is an XML export of the campaign adequate? If so, is it best to post it here?

It's best if you can send me the whole campaign. https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/1725825027/How+to+ZIP+Your+Campaign+for+Support+Developers Just email the link to [email protected]

Shared a Google Drive link. Let me know if there are any issues accessing. User was ecnal17, and the image was Wizard of Wines - Ground Floor.

I am unable to reproduce the issue locally. If you want to set up a session where I join your session, we can try that.

This would be great. I am available before noon EST tomorrow (Fri-Jun-5). If that doesn't work, it will have to be next week.

Noon EST is 9AM here. If we can try 9AM EST, that should work. You can send an e-mail to [email protected] to coordinate.
