I was running the Updater when my computer unexpectedly crashed. After rebooting, FG would not start. I downloaded the FGWebInstall.exe and ran it. This gave me a pop up about first time user. Hit continue and log in. Updater ran, but pressing the red Launch FG button only turns the button blue, FG does not launch.

Clicking on Settings, then Show Settings takes me back to the new user pop up and back through the process of logging in and running Updater again only to end up in the same place. Meanwhile, I also notice that the FG shortcut I said to put in Start menu and on Desktop aren’t there either.

I went into Windows Settings and it was there in the apps list. I attempted to Unistall it, but after it runs, the app is still in the list. Next, I went to the file location and manually deleted it instead. I tried to rerun the Updater, but the results was the same. So I deleted the FGUpdaterEngine.exe as well and then reran the FGWebInstall.exe again. When it finished and prompted me to run Updater again, an FG die logo briefly flashed on screen for a split second, then vanished and now Updater doesn’t run either.

I have a game to host tonight and need a quick fix.

Are you logged in with the proper account? In settings try to force update. Make sure you still have file write permissions and no blocked data via a firewall or antivirus. Which windows version?

For what it is worth, I had tried the force update, but got to the point of trying to uninstall FG in Windows, but it had the same results as before.

Total workaround instead. I backed up all my folders to another drive and manually deleted all Smiteworks folders from C: drive. Reran Installer, ran Updater to redownload everything, and launched FG. Then I copied my campaign folder back over from the back up drive and I seem to be back in business.
