Hi, we're playing with the 2024 version of DND.

My Ranger has Hunter's mark on target, and I hit it with my longbow, weapon damage and hunter's mark damage get applied as expected.

If I then use a bonus action to add Hail of thorns, it does that damage but adds the hunter's mark damage again, which does not seem right?

I need a weapon hit to trigger the Hail of thorns, but the damage is coming from the spell/thorns not the weapon?

Is this a bug or am doing something wrong or is this upposed to happen? Thought it might be an issue from an extension but it still occurs with them all turned off.

Any help gratefully appreciated

Prior to the last update bonus damage couldn't be added to only weapons. However now you can do this. Set up Hunter's Mark as noted in the graphic below, and it will function correctly. (note the targeting option chosen - this is important). See also video four here for more on targeted effects https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?87298-New-videos-on-Effects

On a slightly different topic, is there a way to get Magic Weapon to only apply to a specic weapon when cast?

Not unless you create a new line for each weapon that it could be cast on and include magic in the damage line.
