View Full Version : Continuous Crashes on Mac During Sessions (Tried Full Reinstall + Network Fixes)

Hi everyone,

I’ve been experiencing repeated crashes with Fantasy Grounds on Mac during my most recent campaign, and I’ve been troubleshooting this for several weeks without success.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Per support instructions, I performed multiple full manual uninstall/reinstall cycles (following the official wiki steps exactly)
Verified that all files were removed before reinstalling
Reinstalled cleanly multiple times
Checked for anything that might be interfering with network access (firewall, antivirus, etc.)
Attempted Mac equivalents of whitelisting the following:
FantasyGrounds
Updater components

Despite all of this, the software continues to crash during live sessions, making it unusable for play.

From support, I was told my logs show a network status error, but the provided instructions were Windows-specific. I adapted them for Mac as best as possible, but the issue persists.

Current situation:

Crashes happen mid-session
Issue has been ongoing for weeks
Reinstalls and network troubleshooting have not resolved it

At this point, I’m wondering:

Is there a known issue with the Mac version?
Are there Mac-specific network or permission settings I might be missing?
Anything else I can check in logs or system settings?

I’m happy to provide logs or system specs if needed.

Thanks in advance for any help—this has been pretty frustrating to deal with.

Well, I'm not a Mac person so this is going to be some random suggestions, but hopefully they may help or spur an idea for you that helps.
First, you checked that you are running a support system right? System Requirements - Fantasy Grounds Customer Portal - Fantasy Grounds (https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/1136984087/System+Requirements#macOS-X)
What about your system logs themselves? Not the FG ones, but the Mac ones?
IME a lot of crashes are due to graphic card issues. Is your driver up to date? HAve you tried an earlier version or adjusted settings for lower performance and more stability?
In terms of system resources, how much RAM and CPU is FG using before it crashes? When it crashes?
Are you the GM or a player? Is it related to a map or something else in FG? Can you repeat the crash or is it seemingly random?
What ruleset are you playing? Are you using any extensions?

Welcome to the FG forums @mad7maddy, sorry you're experiencing issues.

From the logs it appears that you're the player connecting to the GM and the "crash" you describe is a network error that returns you to the FG launcher. The logs also suggest that after this you don't exit FG you retry to connect - is that right?

What I'd suggest, as a test - before you join the GM, fully reboot your computer. Then, if you experience the error, fully close down Fantasy Grounds before trying to reconnect to the GM.
