Daggerheart Character Creation and Fantasy Grounds Guide

I. STEP-BY-STEP CHARACTER CREATION
* Class and Subclass: Select 1 of 9 classes. Each class has a Subclass (Foundation) card providing a unique Level 1 feature.
* Heritage: Combine 1 Ancestry (biological) and 1 Community (upbringing) to gain two additional features.
* Trait Modifiers: Distribute the values +2, +1, +1, 0, 0, and -1 across your six core traits: Agility, Strength, Finesse, Instinct, Presence, and Knowledge.
* Vital Stats: Record your starting Evasion, 6 Stress slots, and 2 starting Hope.
* Equipment: Choose your starting weapons and armor. These determine your combat range and how you mitigate damage.
* Experiences: Create two unique phrases representing your past (e.g., "Street Urchin Thief"). You can spend Hope to add a +2 bonus to rolls where these apply.
* Domain Cards: Choose two Level 1 cards from your class’s two Domains to populate your starting loadout.
* Connections: Answer the narrative connection questions on your sheet to link your character to another party member.

VI. ACTION ROLL QUICK REFERENCE
Critical Success: Full success plus a bonus. Gain 1 Hope and clear 1 Stress.
Success with Hope: You succeed and gain 1 Hope.
Success with Fear: You succeed, but the GM gains 1 Fear (complication).
Failure with Hope: You fail the goal, but you gain 1 Hope.
Failure with Fear: You fail and the GM gains 1 Fear (major complication).
