View Full Version : Extra Testing Needed on TEST channel - 2026-02-13

Greetings,

We don't normally post these in this forum, but we want to call extra attention to help test the builds we have in the current TEST channel. The change should mostly impact Windows users but we also want to make sure that nothing broke for our Mac and Linux users. We have tested everything internally on the machines we have available, but

The main area we want to test is the new launcher.

Mac & Linux: It should look the same
Windows: There is a new embedded web browser with links to our store or to Steam (depending on where you launch from)

I'm going to leave this thread open for now and then we will move it out of this forum by early next week if we are good to go. Thanks for your assistance.

On it!

Two things I noticed. Firstly the start screen was the same as it is always when I first opened FGVTT; the browser bit didn't appear until I had loaded and then closed out a campaign with the back to launcher button. Second things is that shop and forge items have Unlock on them rather than buy. I got confused as to what unlock meant until I clicked on something.

Otherwise everything I clicked on took me to where I expected to be taken to without any problems. Looks nice.

Steam side of things is on me. BRB with edits.

For me, it didn't appear at all, even after closing out with back to launcher?
Started from Steam.

Where is the embedded web browser?

EDIT: Oh gotcha. I had to wait 10-15 seconds for it to appear.
EDIT 2: Steam client shopping list goes to steam, and normal client shopping list goes to the website.
All seems fine in Win 11. Except the Launcher standsby 5-10 seconds before it shows the shop and the other links.

Works fine under Linux atm.

No FOV in Lighting yet? ;)

No issues for Fedora 43 linux.

We have FOV in lighting that we plan to put into the TEST channel once this batch goes out and we get a few more things included. We want that to have some additional time to testing because it rewrote the entire LOS calculation routines.

Everything worked out fine for me. All of the links worked. Took just a few seconds for the new splash page to load. I'm using Win 11.
Looks good.

On my aging win10 laptop, it showed up first time when I switched to test.

- Consistently, even on new restarts, takes about 3-4 seconds to load.
Enough time to get me to think "huh, isn't working for me", before going "ah, ok"
You might look into more aggressive caching on the web server?

- The carousel rotates way too fast for my liking and pagination dots aren't easy to click.
If you're worried about slow transition speed, you could use a thin progress bar indicating time until next card. Works well I find.
And those small dots man... A left + right arrow would go a long way
To be fair, speed + pagination is an issue across all your website. Storefront, forge, whatever... sorry.

- The carousel is inconsistent
It stops rotation when I mouse over (Good)
It sometimes resume when I mouse out.
Sorry, can't be more helpful than that. Perhaps if I move the mouse too fast out of the webview itself?

- The cards are a bit blurry compared to the rest of the UI.
Can't upload attachment for screenshot in this forum it seem, only link a url.
So instead just imagine it. Regular UI buttons not blurry. Webview components **waves hands** oooohhh slightly "BLURRY" :)

Oh and I should add, I think three of the four cards look stellar.

The dice pack card, is too cramped, and probably the one I most noticed the blur in (probably just scaling)
It's not heinous or anything, just cramped and hard to read.

The savage world (or on theme/discounts I guess), refer a friend, and forge cards fits well.

Working fine in my windows 11 setup.
I second @Tideturner on this: Carousel is a bit too fast, the need for right and left arrows on carousel and blurry images.
I love the fact that the red clickable buttons are highlighted when the mouse icon touch them. Please do the same with the blue ones.
And it would be very nice to see the buttons react to the push of the click, like when you press a real button.
Thanks.

sorry, upon rereading myself I realize I’m not very clear. What’s needed, in my opinion, is for the red and blue buttons to react the same way: they should light up when hovered over and give the impression of being pressed down when clicked.

Thanks everyone. Please continue to provide any additional feedback. We are taking it all in.

Could someone post an image of what it looks like for Wiindows, so the Mac and Linux people can see what you guys are talking about?

Perhaps, someday we'll have FOV in vision as well?

It is being worked on but not ready for release. They've had to re-write the whole LoS code to be able to do this and a lot more testing has to be done. (according to Moon Wizard, but I can't find the post where he mentioned this, might have been on Discord).

I use an i7-3770 | 32 GB DDR3 1600 | 480 GB SSD | GTX 1060.
Everything is running smoothly.
I'm looking forward to the Lighting FOV and would be happy to have the Vision FOV someday as well.

M1 14 in MBP - TEST Launcher looks identical to LIVE Launcher

Neither Mac nor Linux support the web launcher; so they will look exactly the same as they did before.

Just wondering, do have an Nvidia card?

I notice that it takes a few seconds after the Nvidia overlay flag appears for the Check Updates button shows that an update is needed. Long after I am able to open up a campaign or anything else. I don't remember this being an issue years ago when I have different video cards (or Intel integrated Video).

Yes, I have an Nvidia card. But nvidia overlay is turned off.
I think it was like at least 7-8 to 10 second delay.

Can someone explain to me FOV? Google hints that is basically visionmax, but I'm sure you all mean something different.

FOV means "field of view" :) So, I guess they were discussing light only going in certain directions :)

I take this to mean that if you are looking north then you'll see an arc in front of you of approximately 200 degrees. If it's dark and you have a (modern) torch lit you'll only see in the arc that the torch lights up. So your Field of View is what you can see if you are standing still and looking in one direction. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_field

Win 11 Pro, FG standalone (not Steam)
Seems to work fine. Came up quickly and no issue with having to wait for it to load.

I do notice that two of the screens have "Add" buttons with the shopping cart symbol, but they don't actually add them to your cart (Store or Forge). I think this is a bit confusing, as I was tryin to click on the image or title of the product to get to the product info page, because I didn't want to actually add it to my shopping cart, but that doesn't work. Perhaps "Shop" or "Details" would be a better name for the button than Add.

Oi! I absolutely missed that :D I already wondered why the implementation of FoV "suddenly" sounded to be closer to realisation than I thought, including to be in test soon :D I didn't expect that feature to come anytime soon

Thanks :)
