Hello,

When a player-character druid uses Wild Form to transform into an animal, how can the player take control of the animal during combat?

Should I create an "animal character"?

Depends on whether you are using 2014 (complicated) or 2024 rules (easier). There's an extension which can handle this called Polymorphism but if you want to do it without extensions I'd do what you are thinking and create a PC with the correct stats and abilities. You can keep this on the CT hidden (make their faction neutral) until you need it; then swap this character for the PC on the map and hide their real character.

I use 2014.

Does the Polymorphism extension work with 2014 ?

It used to. I assume it still does.

It works with both. Currently. Who knows with how FG updates go however.

Isn't there a way to give a player control of an NPC?

Yes. Place the NPC on the Combat Tracker and from there onto the map. Make the NPC friendly on the CT and then drag the link icon for the NPC from the CT and drop it onto the player's portrait. The player will then be able to use the attacks, damage, saving throws etc from the NPC sheet (not from the CT). If you want the player to be able to move the token you'll need to enable the Token: Party vision and movement option.

Is it possible to enable the movement option only on a specific token ?

No. The option allows any player to move any token.

No. The option allows any player to move any token.

Most evil option ever is "Token: Party vision and Movement", as I always state whenever I can :)

Assistant GM and "I think" the free extension PETS gives full ownership to one player so NPC is like PC in terms of they fully control and own it. The party vision stuff literally is a partial solution at best to players owning NPCs.
