View Full Version : Intermittent Disconnects to Lobby

For the past few years FG intermittently losses connection with the lobby.

I have tried everything listed in the other posts and wiki to try and fix the issue.

This has occurred on 3 different computers (all PCs with both NVidia or Intel graphics) and AMD or Intel processors. Mid-tier (at time of purchase) gaming setups, except for the one that was all Intel, but it was a I-7 CPU with just the crappy integrated graphics.

I've "whitelisted" FG everywhere possible. Removed antivirus programs (except Defender). Reset all permissions and all that jazz. Xfinity advanced security off, etc.

The only thing that is common in all instances is Comcast and Fantasy Grounds.

This does not usually stop games when running. The disconnect only lasts a second or two at most and most of the time no one gets booted from the game (although it does happen from time-to-time). I have noticed that most of the time my players who get booted are in England or Australia (although, one guy in the Philippines constantly lost connection, but I'm pretty sure that was him because he was also booted from Discord at the same time), while other players and myself stay connected. There has only been a couple of times I have been booted as the host. I'm in the USA, Nashville area at first and now in the Memphis area, if that may have anything to do with the disconnects.

Does anyone have any ideas, outside of the "official" FG recommendations and Google search recommendations, on how to fix the issue?

EDIT: I just attached the most current FG Logs. I notice that it is automatically saved to OneDrive. Could One Drive be causing the issue? I have FG installed on a removable drive to avoid my laptop's tendency to save everything in OneDrive, unless I manually change the path.

The "Lobby" is usually used purely for the initial connection - i.e. to setup a direct connection from the players to the GM. Once that connection is made the FG lobby shouldn't be involved. Maybe it gets involved again if a player loses connection - we'd need an FG dev to confirm if that's the case.

More information would be helpful in offering advice.

1) What's the error message received - and is this received on the GM or the player side?
2) When this happens, collect the GM and affected player logs using the Compile Logs option - see the link in my signature for details. Then post the compiled logs here.

Not sure about the player notifications. It has been a while since I have run or played a game on FG. I was just getting back into it to setup a game for Shadowdark (adding some 3rd party and homebrew stuff). The constant disconnects in the Lobby just reminded me and I went through the whole rigmarole of firewall and anti-virus settings. That ended up being a pain as I had to "re-setup" all of the websites I use for work, banking, etc., when opening those pages, lol.

What is getting saved the OneDrive? The compile logs resulting zip file, or is your FG data being saved to OneDrive? If it's just the compile logs zip file, that shouldn't be an issue. But if your FG data is being stored in OneDrive then that could cause you other issues - i.e. the possibility of experiencing corrupted campaign data, which would be a different issue to the lobby server disconnection.

the desktop icon (I typically start through Steam) and that logs files are the only things I see in there related to FG. All the other stuff is on the other drive. So, that seems to be a red herring. Going by your initial response, the lobby disconnects are not related to other disconnect issues. I'm probably worrying about nothing. Just anxious to get back into the game. Haven't played on FG since 2025. ;)
