View Full Version : Console Error when adding new enemies to the combat tracker [PF2]

In our PF2/PF2Remaster game of Kingmaker, after pulling updates today, I now find that *nearly* any time I try to add an encounter to the map & combat tracker, I get the following error and only the first enemy in the encounter actually gets added. I can manually drop the rest into the CT and then manually place them on the map... but the automation is all lost. I then find that trying to add any effect to anyone (aside from clicking the + and manually typing an effect value) results in the same error console with no actual effect being applied).
"[ERROR] Script execution error: [string "PFRPG2:scripts/manager_effect_pfrpg2.lua"]:2175: createChild: Invalid argument 1"
I thought there might be something to adding monsters with versus without pre-existing effects that might relate to whether I get the error when populating... but "effect monsters" never do, and "effect-less monsters" only seem to work sometimes.
I can definitely provide more details on request... but knowing what would be helpful in investigating would determine what else I can provide (that one line in console.log is the only I've found there that looks even remotely related). Kinda hoping it's just a simple typo in that script that can be quick-patched ;)

We are having a very similar error, except as a Handler error when trying to apply effects. This was especially notable when trying to do aura effects.
"[ERROR] Handler error: [string "PFRPG2:scripts/manager_effect_pfrpg2.lua"]:2175: createChild: Invalid argument 1"
We were able to do a workaround for now by applying effects into the combat tracker, or as character effects, but this does not work for aura's, due to how those effects get checked.
We did try removing all our extensions and everything to do some troubleshooting, but still get the same error, with and without extensions.

Sorry many errors tonight (mainly due to the ones above, however also a bunch of other automated ones), this been the same the last 2 weeks. The FG updates are too many and PF2 is not being upkept. It very disappointing for such a big Ruleset.

Can also confirm.
Ruleset: Pathfinder 2e
Trying to do prep for tonight's game and in testing I too am getting the following console error when applying an effect regardless of source or when adding an encounter with more than one entity to the combat tracker
"[ERROR] Handler error: [string "PFRPG2:scripts/manager_effect_pfrpg2.lua"]:2175: createChild: Invalid argument 1"
Have also had these when attempting to add an encounter to the Combat Tracker
[WARNING] window: Anchored static height ignored for control (initiativeskill) in windowclass (npc_combat_creature)
[WARNING] window: Unable to locate control (list) specified in insertbefore attribute for control (sub_encounter_description) in windowclass (battle)
Having no such errors with other rulesets I use, so it looks like a PF2 problem exclusively

I reported the error to the main FG dev last night. Hopefully we'll get a fix ASAP.

If you're experiencing other errors, please report them so that we can fix them. We're very active on the PF2 and SF2 ruleset.

Sorry for this breaking issue. This is an error that was introduced with the v5.1.2 update yesterday. We've made the main FG dev aware and are pushing them for a fix in the base FG product. I'll try to get a work around in place in the ruleset ASAP if the base FG fix isn't immediately available.

Sorry for this issue occurring.
We've a hotfix work around pushed for the PFRPG2 ruleset. This will avoid the error and allow adding of effects to entries in the CT and also allow adding of entries to the CT that have a PERMEFFECT automation that applies an effect.
This hotfix temporarily negates the code that prevents duplicate effects from being applied and also the IMMUNE: [condition] effect functionality. We're working on the base issue and will reinstate this functionality once that is fixed.
EDIT: Workaround has been removed as fix now provided in CoreRPG.

Seems to be working so far, just in time for The Inconsequent Debates, thanks for the quick solution!

Can confirm that the temp workaround has cleared my errors. Thanks for that amazing hotfix turnaround time while the base software gets updated! :D

Sorry Trenloe, that came off harsher than I meant. It was just a very frustrating session and PF2 been struggling since these latest updates. Just seems D&D get all the love from FG crew and there obviously not enough testing beta testing before things go live. Especially for such a big ruleset.
No Offense meant, I know how hard it is but there got to be a better way, as I always feel FG is like playing a Alpha product sometimes.
