View Full Version : Poor performance since update to 5.1.1.

Symptoms: Very laggy visuals, doc scrolling, poor response to mouse-overs etc.

What I have tried: Firstly, the same campaign and extensions performed smoothly under 5.0. I have reloaded with no extensions and the issues remain. I have set vsync to 60fps (and below with no noticeable improvements), I have lowered imagequality to 25%. I have set the task priority to realtime in windows task manager. Thought it was my PC and ended up doing a restore of windows and a fresh FGU install but alas, still very poor performance in my campaign.

What I have observed:
A.
I use two monitors, extended (Laptop plus external). I did notice one change in so much as in prior versions when the laucher window opened on my laptop display, I would drag it to the external monitor and the window would resize correctly, on 5.1.1 it does not.
Window on laptop 66452
Same window dragged to external display 66451

B.
Updater still shows v5.0.0.

C.
I/O items in the wait chain, waiting for resources.

Thanks for the information, and especially for the campaign files. I've passed along to Carl to review.

Update:

The campaign has two large maps, both of which I have since reduced even further size to 30% quality webp, so even the largest is now just 3,575kb.

On one map (ravine) I had fx applied. I have removed these and it has made a significant improvement. Whilst this is welcome, it's worth remembering that this was not
an issue prior to 5.1.1.

A final improvement (on my system at least) was gained by launching FGU.exe from command line assigning affinity to Cores 0, 1, 2, & 3

The image file size will only impact initial sharing to players (time to transfer the file to each player). It's the number of pixels that impact performance - see the recommendations here: https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FGCP/pages/2037547009/Developer+Guide+-+Product+Guidelines

What pixel size (width x height) are your images?

This should be addressed in the update that went out today.
