There's got to be a happy middle ground here in terms of on-screen notification spam.
Ran a game on Tuesday, got a PC or two with Aura's active that apply effects to friends. Moving them as a party using the green drag symbol to a new map spammed the screen with unnecessary notifications as effects were removed and added. It was quite the sight.
Same deal for a mass effect drop from an AOE spell. There should be a way to coalesce or delay notifications to see if they matter (when effects are being automatically removed and re-added due to a map change, like delaying the notification a few moments to see if the effect is re-added before throwing it out there).
I don't really want to turn them off as a solution to this issue, because at the end of the day, I LIKE them. Just not in massive quantities ;)
