View Full Version : Spell Resistance and Saving Throws

When a target has Spell Resistance and the caster fails the caster level check to overcome that Spell Resistance, the system still rolls a saving throw for the target. If the target then fails that saving throw, the system displays a message indicating that the target failed its save. Though technically, there would be no saving throw needed.

I believe this was observed in prior versions as well, but I assumed it was caused by an extension conflict.

While talking about CL Checks, it would be very helpful if the caster level check output displayed the Spell Resistance value being checked against, similar to how saving throws display the DC. More than once we'd think someone failed a save because we missed the comment about the CL Check and Spell Resistance.
Ex: Save [24] [vs. DC 25] -> [for Angel, Solar] [vs Grimm] [FAILURE]

Example of desired output format:
CL Check [19] [vs. SR 27] -> Hold Person [at Angel, Solar] [FAILURE]

Using Pathfinder 1st Ed. No Extensions. Updated January 25th, 2026

Thank you for continuing to improve Fantasy Grounds and for your ongoing support of Pathfinder!

It has always been that way. SR checks and spell saves are rolled simultaneously.

Currently, CL checks do not have a result separated from the roll itself (which reports the success, failure, lack of SR, etc.) to provide the extra data.

I thought I saw that for a while, just didn't realize it was a known thing. Thanks for the quick response, Moon Wizard.
