View Full Version : Legend of Ghost Mountain Campaign Won't Load After Update

So I updated Fantasy Grounds tonight (the 1/20/2026 update) and now my Legend of Ghost Mountain campaign will not open. It tries to open for half a minute or so and then the program goes to not responding. I let it run for about 10 minutes, wondering if it was updating the campaign to the new format in the background, but it never opened, just stayed not responding.
I have gotten Fantasy Grounds to open the 5e Tutorial that it comes with successfully as well as a Savage Worlds ruleset game that I used to teach my players a bit about the system before we started Legend of Ghost Mountain. Both open fine, but the Legend of Ghost Mountain campaign doesn't.
I have tried opening the campaign will all extensions and themes removed. No improvement.
I have created a new Savage Worlds campaign and it opened fine. Activated Legends of Ghost Mountain to that campaign and closed it. Was able to open it successfully after.
Anyone else having a similar issues with any of their campaigns.
I did save a copy of the campaign before opening it in the new update. I even tried copying that file back to the campaign folder. Still nothing.
Help appreciated.

We pushed two hot fixes today, one in afternoon and one this evening.
Can you run a new Check for Updates, and check to see if working or not?
If not, can you send Dropbox or Google Drive link to a zipped up copy of your campaign folder, so I can pass to Carl to review?
Thanks,

Wow fast response.
Ran check for update, but didn't look like anything updated and when I tried to open the campaign after it still ended up at Not Responding.
Here is a link to the campaign file. https://drive.google.com/file/d/18nYA5aTmnAvQT-CQd999zIFHXKF80wP_/view?usp=drive_link

@wraith428,
That file is not set to Share with Anyone with Link; so I was unable to download. Once you change the Share settings, let me know, and I'll download and get Carl to look at.

Yeah, thanks, I got it; and forwarded to Carl. I'm not able to load locally; so hopefully Carl will see the same thing and be able to pinpoint the cause.

There is a text layer on the image Imperial Vaults with special characters in it that are causing the XML not to load. Attached is a copy of your db.xml with the characters removed. We'll be adding a text sanitizer to insure this doesn't happen in the future. [Editing to add: the error actually appears to be with the text rendering, not the character on the layer. I'll take a closer look.)

This allowed the campaign to open and on a first glance everything looks to be working.
Thanks for the help. Really appreciate it as do my players.

Anything I can do to help since I am the module developer for Legend of Ghost Mountain? I can edit out special chracters if need be from the module if that is a problem.

Thanks, but it's a bug in the text rendering that needs to be fixed.

We just pushed a hot fix that should address the issue in legend of Ghost Mountain module (as well as others with similar issue). Please run a new Check for Updates, and let us know if you have any other issues.
