View Full Version : Map Editing. Cannot reorder layers within a folder

I've got a map with a folder for each area where I put the walls and decorations. However, because I have tables and things on top of the tables I need the layers to be in a specific order. However once the objects are in a folder they can't be rearranged. Drag and drop doesn't do anything even though all the visual cues during the drag operation are there. All the layers and the folder are unlocked. Any ideas?
This is a 5E ruleset campaign if that makes a difference.
This is my first time trying to create a map entirely from within fantasy grounds instead of importing and image and editing it.

Thanks,
-Harry

Thanks for reporting. A similar issue was reported by another user this morning related to the new update. I've forwarded to Carl; and this is on deck for him to look at as soon as we track down a separate crash issue.

Thank you so much!
For anyone running into something similar I was able to work around it in this case by duplicating the table layer. That put the duplicate at the bottom of the layers in my folder, showing up under the things that were supposed to be on top of the table and I deleted the original table. Not ideal but I'm able to move on.

Thank you for already reporting this issue, was just coming here to post this exact issue, as I noticed the problem in my game session earlier this week. I'll try the duplicating fix for now and see if that helps. Hopefully fixed soon, as the map I am trying to fix, has far too many things for me to duplicate every single one. I have fixed a few by making some folders and moving single items into them, but the new folder does not always appear where I want it.

I should add, this was for Pathfinder 1e ruleset.

A fix for this issue was just pushed. Please run a new Check for Updates to get the latest version.

After you update, you may need to re-do some of the ordering of assets in folders, but they should stay for the future.

Well, it looks like I may be able to move things around, but that patched deleted the images off almost my entire map, and made the pin heads grow like 5x in size. It looks like most places, maybe all that I had made copies of an image, such as calling them land 1, land 2, etc, were deleted. Not showing in my list anymore - This was me just looking at one of my maps, probably the most complicated one - as it was a world map. The map is now destroyed. Adding a screenshot of what currently looks like, I don't have one of the before. - I used caution to anyone else - make a backup of your campaign folder before applying patch.

Hopefully this can be fixed soon, as I need to try and restore my campaign to an older file thankfully it looks like the db file was saved at 4a, so hopefully that will restore my map once this is resolved.

Edit: Looks like it deleted several things I wrote on Text layer as well

Can you provide zipped up copy of your campaign folder, so I can send to Carl to review?

Thanks,

Actually, is there a way I can privately send this file or at least the link. I have been working on the campaign for some time, and may be trying to publish things as a point in the future.

Thanks,

You can open a support ticket and give the link there. I also have seen Moon recently say you can DM him the link via Discord.

Excellent, can't say I have ever opened a support ticket, just posted on forum, where do I go for that? Or if posting link in discord DM is better I can try that as well.

Correction, just seen how to send support info, I can do that or discord DM whichever is easier for you guys.

Discord is faster generally in these cases; since we don't have to wait for the support guys to send us.

However, Carl just provided me with a hot fix that he thinks should restore those layers. Can you run a new Check for Updates, and see if you are seeing an issue?
If so, then go ahead and DM zipped up campaign folder.

OMG, it looks like it restored everything. Map is still messed up, but I think that is as you said earlier, that I just need to move folders/images around - this will probably take awhile, so cannot tell for certain if it is fully fixed, but so far so good - THANK YOU! The pins are still HUGE, is there an option to change the sizes? or are these now the size of pins? I liked how they were before the fix-patch. they were tiny, but that's what i liked. - Actually I think issues with pins is they do not resize, when I zoom in/out of map, so at the view the has entire wold map showing, the pins are huge, but If I zoom in to just sow a single nation, they are still big, but not too the point it causes visual issues - if you get what i mean there. And yes, I could turn the pins off, but I am usually clicking on them often enough, I don't want that to be the fix.

Either way Thank you, and thanks to Carl for the quick fix, and recovering my lost images. I'll fix everything on the map and let you know for sure if everything was restored.

Thanks again,
Elaith

After a quick glance, and moving things around, it looks like everything is restored. Again thank you so much, that image as generated over a couple of years as I worked on the world - and while I stink at making maps and its fugly, it's my fugly map :). It has not been said enough, I appreciate the quick response and fix, as this would have bothered me all night.

Thanks,
Elaith
