I haven't been able to test this without extensions running but curious if this is working as intended or not.

Using 5e ruleset.

I recently ran an encounter with some invisible enemies, which were attacking my player's characters. They players didn't know where the monsters were and when the PC's moved, they were triggering attacks of opportunity on themselves as they unknowingly moved away from the enemy. I was attempting to roll these attacks privately with the GM rolls hidden but the players would get a notification in the chat box that would indicate that an attack had been made and who it had been made against but only the roll results were hidden.

I was under the impression that as the GM, if I rolled against PC's, all they saw were dice shadows rolling but had no other information. That doesn't seem to be the case in my campaign currently.

Is this intended?

Attacks and damage rolls can't be rolled in the dice tower; only skill and ability checks can use the dice tower.

With DM rolls hidden and show results to players off players will see shadow dice but they will still get a notification that they have been attacked but will not see the results of the dice roll, nor whether the attack hit or missed, nor who or what attacked them. All they'll see is that there was an attack and the weapon or whatever (claws, bite etc) was used (also when show DM rolls is off the Dice tower isn't even visible to the DM)

So, from what you are saying, FG is working exactly as expected.

Think of it this way, they might not know an adversary is there or that an attack is coming, but they can hear the swish and feel the breeze of the claws going by (or the claws sinking in if they are hit).
