Well, I finally got my GURPS player of cyberpunk interested in Cyberpunk Red. Characters will be built on 70 points - and I've already gotten one of the NPC characters built for use with CP Red - beginning level 4 Fixer. He has a grand plan to follow that I hope, if this campaign runs any length of time, that I get to see the prepwork pan out. Liam "Starburst" Donnovan. He took the handle of Starburst as a reminder of his childhood. His family of reclaimers was killed by an Arasaka agent staying behind to try and recover some major cache items that went down with the tower. Sadly, everyone of the family involved in the excavation of a certain vault were together to keep the secrecy of what they were finding, to themselves. A young child, shot through the chest with a armor piercing round, did massive damage to him. Only the fact that he had a minor birth defect saved his life, as the round went through where the heart would have been. The exit wound left a starburst like rip to the skin and the woman who found him, used every ounce of her skills to save the child. She raised him like her own family, and watched as her flesh daughter grew up to become a doctor - no doubt traumatized at the sight of a young friend nearly dying, a playmate she barely understood was near death. Raised in the ways of reclaimation, Liam would grow older, join the military - and become at first, a motorpool officer, and through hard work, become an S4 officer in logistics. When he left the service, he used all of his savings to help pay for a "Misplaced military death benefit" for a mother whose son's death, Liam felt responsible for. Of course, he couldn't know that there were profiteers involved in sales of military gear essential for keeping the unit in fighting trim, and when they were ambushed, killed to the man. Captain Liam felt personally responsible because he cut corners - he failed to confirm, verify that the suppliers were legit.

Fast forward to Liam's separation from Service. Now in Night City of 2045, he's watching all of the survivors of the Fourth Frontier war and worse, try and rebuild their broken lands, to patch up their lives, and integrate back into society. Liam found those men on the streets of Night City's rail yard near the glen by Watson and the waterways. He sees what is broken and longs for what America once was. To that end, he intends to open the transportation arteries between Night City and the rest of the World and the American hinterland. Never again will he trust that the corporations won't screw over the normal people, and he is trying to open up the markets to what they once were. He's new to the streets, and he's got a mission. That, and trying to come to grips with the woman who became a street medic - a woman he never realized until her mom kept making overly broad hints that he and her would make a great couple. One year after voluntary separation, Liam has purchased four international shipping containers and placed them atop each other and abutting each other to form a four on the bottom together and two on the top together for a steeped roof "stack". This is his home. He's using it to be the center of his operations on land that the Port Authority has labeled as "Non-active assets" along with a note of extreme chemical spill location, cost to clean up more than it is worth". For that favor, Liam has a contact within the Port Authority who was thankful for Liam's so called Sister - code named the Bean Si. To the men she saves, she's a goddess. For those whom can't save, she cries. With Liam's underground smuggling ring contacts, she has more access to medical supplies than most. For Ma? She runs a place called Ma's Iron Garage, a place that is mostly a green zone - her motto "We can fix almost anything, what we can't we will pay half price salvage value". Thus, Liam has the start of his fixer empire, and it is only going to get better. He's known through rumor only, as the Quartermaster for the 6th Street Gang - who only does business through drops and recorded communications. To Rogue, he's known as "The Advisor" - Liam is aware that Rogue has given up the lifestyle as a solo and is also ironically, working on becoming a Fixer. Knowing she's a mother, he knows that she too will need a safe place to raise her kid and the need for a better world. He supplies her with medical supplies, experimental age inhibition hormonal treatments, and an experimental new age reversal technology that will help set back her biological clock. That, and he has proven himself to her that he will keep her identity and secrets to his grave if needs must. He sees Rogue as a possible venue for a better change in Night City, just as he sees the 6th Street gang as having potential.

In the meantime, he has also founded Vanguard Asset Protection Ltd. There, he hires only military veterans as guards for protecting warehouses and other yards deemed too poor to hire better security. In that role as a silent partner, he assists with perimeter security and internal security systems. That his "stack" is being guarded by his own men and paid by the Port Authority is a fun twist on strategic thinking. He gets to protect his hide out, and Port Authority pays for the privilege. From there, he plans to expand, offering his services to "delouse" the sites of unwanted two legged vermin from properties insurance by major insurance properties. Why pay out 5 Million EB's for an insurance claim when you can pay 5,000 EB's to clean out the rats nests nearby?

Then it comes to happen - some poor slob is being manhandled by the wanna be gang calling themselves the Iron Sights. As gangs go, they're pathetic. They made one mistake however, prior to the start of the campaign, they shot Screamsheet Sally's emotional support animal, a huskey/Malamute mix that she so adored. The leader Sledge, told one of his new recruits to prove he could hit the side of a barn. When the recruit asked what to shoot, Sledge infamously pointed to Sally's dog saying "you miss that, and you're out". The gangbanger took four tries, but the fourth hit the Husky Malamute mix leaving it dying. Screamsheet Sally vowed revenge - and as a media, she was going to get it or be there when Sledge got his payback.

And thus, the stage is set for the start of my campaign in a one on one chat only game.

If the story arc makes it to the end (big IF!), Liam will be the cause of how the Voodoo boys finding out information about a specific engram prison, and because of Liam, Rogue will have someone who will help her build her Fixer empire. It will be a long journey, and we'll see how it ends. Who knows, Connor Kelly - fresh out of the Military himself, may find that two smoking inattentive mooks along with two more mooks high on stim sticks, exercising poor noise control, plus one over pampered Suit's son named Sledge - may get the better of him. The gods of the Dice work in mysterious ways. Oh, almost forgot. Sledge has a Platinum Trauma Team card. What remains to be seen is how Connor handles the four mooks and the lieutenant.

Been doing some more behind the scenes prep. For the initial scenario, I have four mooks, low grade and all, no armor, some blunt impact weapons, and a couple with pistols. Sledge (the bad guy) will have gotten himself a Mono-Knife (stats implied/inferred from BLACK CHROME) and body armor in the form of stylish armor that looks like chic clothing.

When Screamsheet Sally publishes her video that she will capture of the fight between Connor and Sledge, she will write a screamsheet article much in the same style as the D.J. played by Lynne Thigpen in THE WARRIORS. She'll make an effort to describe the whole event as a test for Sledge to join the 6th Street gang and that he horribly failed his initiation test. She will point out that it is lucky the 6th street gang found out that Sledge was no better then Sewer Sludge and they were wise not to admit him to their gang"

After that Sledge will get a new Night City handle, one that he will HATE with ever fiber of his being "Sewer Sledge".

The one problem that Sally will face after this all goes down, is that she will have put a target on Connor's back from Sledge's father, at Continental Foods, and for another, she herself will be tracked down with a bounty on her head, and interrogated roughly for any knowledge of her and Connor's role in the downfall of his Son's name.

I've created a new game mechanic for use with this scenario. Every 2 months, I will be rolling against a danger pool. For every 1 that I roll, I remove a d6 from the pool. For every 6 that I roll, I add a new die. If the die pool ever reaches 12, the "Trail" to find Connor or Sally will grow cold enough that their bounties will no longer be actively pursued. If the pool drops down to 0, then the Hunters have found their quarry and the hunt begins.

Right now, I'm working on getting the Mooks detailed, and entered into my campaign properly. From there, the next step is to modify a railyard to have a shack plus some lockers nearby with lock systems installed. These lockers are usually used by the railroad personnel or the Port Authorty personnel - not general public. Once I get the map to where I want it, I can then start to put in the line of sight stuff on the map and get the icons set up for the battle.

As this is an instruction scenario for my player, the scenario involves 4 Mooks and a Lieutenant. The mooks will be bored, not expecting anything, and two will be using euphoria stim sticks while playing music loudly from their Agents. The other two Mooks attempting SOME semblence of overwatch, will be guarding the east and west approaches to the hut and locker bank. Sledge is a Security Mook with his Will and Cool lowered, and his INT raised.

With luck, my friend will discover how the facedown works, and about clocks, and all that fun stuff.
