WorldBuilding Extension by Robyn1xp
Buy here for $1 on the Forge. (https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/shop/items/2759/view)
This extension aims to help GMs worldbuild with some extra organization. Features on some new record types to help GMs track NPC to PC relationships as well.
Features
2 new record types, with Libraries for each. Libraries accessed from the "World" category on the sidebar.
Factions - new record type with many fillable fields, some linkable fields to link to other content/records. Pictures tab for linking art. Members tab for tracking list of Faction Members (added in v1.1). Relations tab for GM tracking of Faction relations to PCs or other NPCs.
Personas - new record type with many fillable fields, some linkable fields to link to other content/records. Pictures tab for linking art. Relations tab for GM tracking of Persona relations to PCs or other NPCs.
Both records have a Type field. Any Types entered are then filterable in the Library windows for each record type. For example, if you enter some Factions as "Clan" type, and some as "Criminal" types, you can then filter the Factions library window by Clans or by Criminals, and see all records of the matching type.

RULESETS
I did all my major testing in 5E Ruleset. Works there!
I also did some minor testing in the following rulesets, and everything seems to work, but your mileage may vary:
Starfinder
Starfinder 2E
Pathfinder 1E
Pathfinder (2E Legacy)
Pathfinder 2E
Savage Worlds (Adventure Edition)
Shadowdark (-- confirmed in replies in this forum thread--)
I can only assume other rulesets built on top of CoreRPG may work with this extension! Feel free to let me know if there's any rulesets not listed that this EXT doesn't work with.

CHANGELOG
10 Dec 2025 - v1.1
Members Tab (Factions): Added a new “Members” tab to Faction records, positioned after “Pictures” and before “Relations”. Provides a two-column layout with “Member” and “Role”, supports adding rows and per-row deletion.
Record Rename (Personalities ---> Personas): Renamed the “Personalities” record type to “Personas”. This change avoids Fantasy Grounds’ auto-prepend formatting that previously displayed linked records as “Personalitie: [name]” due to singularization quirks. Using “Personas” ensures cleaner, correctly formed link labels when records are referenced elsewhere. Old Personalities records from v1.0 will no longer function. Migration of content to new Personas records will need to be manual.
9 Dec 2025 - v1.0 release
ROADMAP
Add "Members" tab to Factions records, with columns for Name & Role
FAQ
Q) Why is Personalities a needed record type? Why not add this to NPC sheets?
A) Not all NPCs I run in my games have NPC stat blocks, sometimes they're just an NPC personality, abstracted. I made this so I could track them too. Plus all Personality records can be linked to an NPC stat block if you so wish.
If you have any comments, feedback, issues, requests, etc, feel free to comment here!
Hope this is helpful for those looking to track more stuff in their games.

Can the Player side add to the notes if shared to that player?
I am thinking of creating the factions, listing that record as Player Facing, and having them fill out how they think their reputation, standing, etc. is with other factions. Then I can compare that with my GM record.

Hi!
I love that idea, but at the moment this extension wouldn't support that functionality. It is something I could try looking into, I just don't know how to implement that right away. The only record types I can think of off the top of my head that both Players and GMs can edit text on are Character Sheets and Notes. I can look into those and see what I can interface with and re-create functionality, but that will take some time.
Thank you so much for the suggestion!

I've updated post # 1 of this forum thread with some of the other rulesets I did testing of this extension in (albeit briefly!) I am happy to report that it seems to be working in all the Pathfinder and Starfinder rulesets, as well as Savage Worlds (Adventure Edition).
If you test this in other CoreRPG child rulesets and find any success or issues, feel free to let me know! Thanks <3
Edit to add: I didn't really test this using any Themes aside from whatever theme the ruleset loads with. If anyone encounters issues with any themes, feel free to let me know!

I am thinking like locations work with the two sets of Notes fields one the players see and one only the GM sees?
Downloaded and will test in Traveller and 2e this week.

Okay! I can definitely tinker around with it and see what I can come up with!
Thanks for checking it out, I hope it works well in Traveller and 2E for you!

This looks great. Gonna grab it and start playing with it. Thinking mainly of my 5e campaign, but I'll check it out in Shadowdark too since i plan on starting a SD campaign soon.

Seems to work just fine with Shadowdark. I do have 1 suggestion: for the faction sheet could we get a Members tab? Similar to Relations but instead of "Relationship" column have "Rank/Role". My knee-jerk here is that all PC's and NPC's who aren't affiliated with the faction would be listed on the "Relations" list if they have a noted connection to the faction, whereas the ones who are affiliated would be listed on the "Members" list.

Love that suggestion, adding that to my to-do list for the first update! Hopefully I can work on that tonight and tomorrow. Glad to hear it seems to work in Shadowdark for you!
edited my original reply cuz I double quoted accidentally :D

Great work! Will be picking this up as I start pondering a replacement for the old Player Agency extension. I wonder if you and damned (i think it was one of his) could chat.

Thank you! I'm not very familiar with the Player Agency extension, but hopefully this suits some of your needs. If I end up taking a look at Player Agency to see what all it does, I'll be sure to reach out to Damned.

I've uploaded v1.1 of WorldBuilding to the Forge, it should be available whenever you run an update to Fantasy Grounds.
Please Note! Save text or screenshots of your current Personalities records before you update this extension. Old ones will not work any more (Faction records are safe!)
I had to rename Personalities records to Personas to fix a quirk of FG when those records are linked elsewhere (ie Story Entries). Before it would prepend links as "Personalitie: [name]" because it singularizes the title of the record automatically. So calling them "Personas" now should look neater. Screenshots attached of before and after.
BEFORE:
65971
AFTER:
65972
Since changing this one thing, all Personalities records from v1.0 will no longer work. So if you save screenshots or the text of whatever you've built somewhere, you can rebuild your Personalities on the new Personas records.
I don't intend to ever change these record names again, so this shouldn't happen again (unless FG drastically changes in the future for some reason). :)
The other update in v1.1 of WorldBuilding is a new tab added to Faction records, called "Members". Now GMs can make big ole lists of members tied to a specific faction.
Hope you all enjoy the new update!

Fantastic! Especially for my homebrew campaigns that need a lot of notes, this is perfect...
Cheers! :)

Hello again. Thank you so much for the Members tab :)
I am enjoying the factions and personas, currently using them in my prep. I am running into one problem and one want:
Problem: can't scroll through entries on the members tab (so that the window must be enlarged to get to the bottem entries). This creates a hard cap on how many entries can be effectively made, but also just a convenience issue before the cap is reached. 66041
Want: is it possible to be able to add links to the fields on the members tab? ie, I'd love to link to the personas in the Member column rather than just typing their name.
Happy Holidays, if you celebrate, and thanks for your work.

I can definitely look into making the fields on Members tabs linkable (will probably just use Formatted Text field since thats the easiest for me :D ) I will also look into the scrolling issue as well! May take me a few days to crank that all out. Thank you for your patience!
Sorry for the late response, holiday season was wild busy for me!

Thank you for making this available. It is a great addition to FG.
I would like to make a request to have table to be able to be output to Factions, Locations and Personas. This would be great for GMs who like to use random generation tables.
For instance, I am using random hexcrawl generation tables and would like the hex tile outcome to create a new Locations item, instead of chat or story. Saves from having to copy/paste from chat/story into your better options and clutter from unused story entries.

Loving this addon so far! Question though, is there a way to reorganize the Members tab of the faction entries instead of deleting all the entries to add one at the top?
Example: I am mostly using this to create the faction of an adventurer's guild that the players are part of. But I also have NPCs and reoccurring characters that are part of it as well. But their ranks might change or they might meet another member of the faction that I want to add. For organization sake I try to keep them in rank order from highest rank to lowest rank. Currently I need to delete all the entries to add a new NPC or character that might join the faction at a specific rank.

I can look into this for sure but it might be quite above my knowledge level for coding in FG

This is definitely an improvement I would like to include in a future version. I will try my best when I get some time to work on it again.

I know someone requested Members but could you have the Character Block under Relations be able to accept links as well?
This would help clear screen clutter, make it easier to map connections between NPCs, & allow easier encounter creating specific to Factions.

I'm still slowly but surely experimenting with this to see how I want to incorporate it. I struggle in general with how Fantasy Grounds doesn't let players own anything besides character sheets and player notes, for one, so I'm never sure how much effort I want to put into adding resources for the players to FG when they can't contribute meaningfully.
That aside I had a design question: why is the personality section set to be player visible? Are folks using that section for personas they share with the PCs, or are your persona records just for the GM's own nefarious purposes? I know I could just put the same details into the GM section with headers but if the fields are there it seems silly to not use them.

I use Legend Keeper to track everything, including all my secret info, session planning, etc, but I add the stuff that the players know about to this so it's more easily sharable during the game. And then the player facing stuff on LK is available outside the game.

My games tend to have NPC that have a front face and hidden face. So the visible personality is how the NPC interacts with the party and the GM part is for me. Sometimes I do not use the player visible part at all.
An example is one of my NPCs wants the favor of the party so they have a subservient personality trait with the motivation of gaining favor. In the GM notes their personality trait is cutthroat with to motivation of gaining personal power. This reminds me that this NPC is willing to betray the party for the right price.

Yeah, I use that GM field for important reminders, but I have a long list of secret stuff for a lot of the npcs, and it's a lot of work to copy that over and reformat it when I can just use the wiki. But it's great for reminding players who an NPC is!

Thanks for providing this GM tool.
I would like to humbly request that the Relationship tab be scrollable, like the main tab. I know the Personality records do not scroll, not sure about the tabs under Factions, but if they are not already scrollable, I would like for all tabs (other than the picture tabs) to be scrollable.
Thank you!!!
