View Full Version : Hosting game with VPN, possible_

Hello, I am struggling to understand how to host a game from abroad, while my friends are in Italy.

Tried without VPN seems issues,

I don't understand if I need to use a VPN or not.

I have the log, can I maybe send to someone of the staff?

First, are you attempting to use a Cloud or LAN server type? Second, it shows an inccorrect password attempt. Did the player get the right password exactly right?

Cloud should work in most cases without a VPN. There can be a few higher security situations that it won't work and you will need to use a VPN. If using a VPN, you may need to have a VPN with a public IP address. Been too long since I've done LAN connections to remember the details.

Problems connecting can be caused by many things such as your anti virus or your router. If you are trying to host from a location where you aren't in control of the router that could be problematic. You can test if you can run a game by perhaps using a hotspot on your phone or similar which would bypass any router issues.

As mentioned, if you're using Cloud mode you shouldn't need a VPN. Try another test with a player trying to connect and, if it fails, collect the FG logs from both the GM and the Player and post here.

not WIFI, using wired from router to laptop.

This eve I do a test without vpn and we will see, if goese bad I make the logs

Found the solution: from where I am without VPN will not work, with VPN though slower, it works.

Tomorrow we do the real test.
