I want to run Achtung! Cthulhu in SWADE and we’re using the Horror Companion. As I understand it, there should be a Fear check and, on a failure, a roll on the Fear Table. I’d also like to apply modifiers to the Fear Table roll if the characters know too much about the Mythos.
Can someone explain the “correct” way to handle Fear checks in SWADE (including how to roll them) and how you’d add modifiers based on Mythos knowledge in a campaign?

You'd need to handle the rolls manually as usual - pretty much as outlined in the rulebook; the screenshot below shows the "Fear" page from the SWADE rulebook in FG. EDIT: or see @Jiminimonka's comment below.
Roll the Fear (Spirit) check, applying any required modifiers before rolling. Then, if it critically-fails (or is classed as Terror rather than Anusea), roll on the "Fear" table, applying any modifiers via the Modifier box on the bottom left of the desktop, before rolling.

Before Challenges, you would get each player to type in chat "/roll Fear" and it would make the Spirit roll and if they failed, it put a link to the Fear Table in chat.
Now that Challenges have been added to SWADE - you can force a Fear check for all the player characters using the following command "/challenge check Fear: Terror" and the a Spirit/Fear roll die will appear on each character on the Combat Tracker. If they fail another roll will appear for the Fear table. You can also add the modifiers to this Challenge roll, so a -2 Fear roll (which would have a +2 on the Fear Table) would be "/challenge check Fear -2: Terror +2".

@Jiminimonka - good to know. The Fear check isn't specifically documented in the Wiki page, you'd have to realize that Fear is valid because it's a Trait check. Thanks for the information. You'd have to handle "nausea" fear effects a bit more manually I assume, or is there some critical fail syntax?

Note that you can hotkey the commands Jiminimonka posted.
Type it into chat, but don't press enter.
Highlight the text, then drag it to a hotbar slot.
Now you just press the hotbar key to trigger the command.

Ikael will add "/challenge check Nausea" soon.
Wiki page will also get some updates with examples of uses for Challenges.

What could I do wrong if nothing happens if I paste this in the chat? /challenge check Fear: Terror
edit: You have to have the PCs in the combat tracker

Do you have any PCs in the combat tracker? This will add Fear rolls into the PC entries in the combat tracker.

Thank you I just found that out. It works now!

Nausea is now added to challenges:
/challenge check Nausea: Shaken, Fatigued; +Critical Failure:Terror
This will let the players roll Nausea on the Combat Tracker, if they fail, Apply will give them Fatigue and Shaken status, and Critical Failure will additionally roll on the Terror table.
