From reading the threads I have concluded that I can buy B/X modules but I cant run them in a B/X ruleset?

I have to run them as AD&D 2e natively OR i have to mess around converting them to Old Skoll Essentials because there are config settings to restrict to combined Race/Class etc?

That cant be correct?

Which modules are you referring to?
If they were made as adaptations for 2E, then that's the system they will run in.

The modules are already converted to run with the AD&D 2e (aka D&D Classic) ruleset, but if you want you to get as close to B/X as possible with FGU then you can run them with the Old-School Essentials (OSE) ruleset and to make it easy I'd suggest using the Old School Essentials- Convert 2e Monster to OSE extension (https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/shop/items/321/view) which will convert the encounters to OSE.

I was looking into running B1 or B2 using the basic d&d ruleset. I had understood that I need to buy Old School essentials to get a system with race as class. But was concerned that FGU modules purchased for classic d&d 2e would not open in OSE.

They will open and i wrote an extension that Sir kerry linked to convert NPCs. The last time i looked at B2 some of the npcs had missing information so double check the conversion. Lastly any weapons or armor will need to be pulled from OSE to update the parcels. I use OSE and i have run nothing but these store modules. I have also converted 4 of the B and 2 X modules on the store so I know they work.

Thank you for the response, I guess I will buy a module and try the conversion to see how much work it would take. Can they be converted and then saved as a OSE module?

Does anyone have any already done that can be shared?

I remember 10year back when I had to convert all my 3.5e campaigns from pdfs into modules to run them. Took a lot of time.

Thankyou for the pointers.

Hope with allow a b/x ruleset at some point or OSE allows them to load as native modules.

I have owned 2e setup for a few years as Saltmarsh modules are one of my fav campaigns to run.

There is nothing to share. Run OSE, open the modules, and play the game. Use the extension as you play on the fly and convert the parcels yourself as you see fit. All my games are in OSE using store modules, many of which I converted for the store.
