Since the launch of FGII the library section on this site has included the two parts aiming to help with rulesets: the Ruleset Modification Guide (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/modguide/) and the Ruleset Reference (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/refdoc/). They are pretty dense and heavy reading, which has some positive sides, e.g. they are of relatively accessible lenght, but they are admittably technical and perhaps too cumbersome for the casual "modder".

I'm asking your opinion, do you think a wiki hosted here on the Fantasy Grounds site would be, or rather become, a valuble resource? Same question for the User Guide. This does not mean the current guides are going away, but some practical tips and tricks, answers to specific questions, ..., are hard to communicate by means of a manual and are quickly washed away from the top pages of forums.

Personally I am ambivalent toward Wikis; there are both well and ill structured ones, and ones with up-to-date and completely obsolete information... Hoping of course that the potential Fantasy Grounds wiki would be both up-to-date and well structured. :) All comments are welcome.

All things considered with how things are managed with the answers to most questions anyway... it is out of the userbase.

The SAD thing really is that good advice and tricks, tips scrolls away by date into obscurity which is in my opinion far worse than some information being "obsolete".

Also, this means we might be able to provide procedures that could then be searchable and useful for anyone who needed them.

I agree with Oberoten: since most of the tips and tricks of ruleset modification, as well as the errors in the current documentation, are provided/discovered by users, having a wiki would be a better way to organize that information than having them in disorganized forum threads.

The wiki would also be a good resource for bug reports, feature requests, popular basic ruleset mods, and full rulesets.

I'm certainly in favour of a wiki, but am not sure how it would/should be moderated. There is some really helpful community-generated content (such as Xorn's excellent module building and exporting guide), that would be perfect for a wiki.

Just my 2c.

A wiki would be good but I would prefer to get off line documentation support. The online documentation is a PITA with dial up and impossible to use at work on my lunch break since I do not have Internet access.

I agree about existing documentation (I'd dearly love to see an offline version of the object model docs), but should also like to see a more sticky forum for user contributions.

Something to consider is that particularly useful things could become part of the library (with the author's permission). I'm revising my tutorial into a PDF for the library today, actually.

Did Smiteworks decide against a wiki? It kind of sounds like a good idea to me. As someone who is trying to plod through the old stuff for nuggets, I can see the benefit of a wiki.
