View Full Version : Best AI tools for making tokens?

First, let me say that I am only turning to AI to make tokens because I use a ruleset called Rolemaster, which has a lot of similar monsters to D&D but there are a lot of creatures that don't exist in D&D and have weird descriptions. I am starting to use nano banana (aka ImagineArt) and it does a pretty good job. It seems to have some problems with concepts like holding a two-handed sword in both hands. Anyone know of the best AI tool out there for making tokens?

A lot of it comes down to the proper wording and the AI platform. I have had decent success with Chat GPT 5, and Ideogram, both were or are paid versions in my case. Play around with some text prompt templates and research best practices for more success and consistency. Practice, luck, and some prompt wording are key. If you want some demos, hit me up in the FG Academy discord.

Note, I suggest you consider not just creating tokens, but start with the AI creating a full-height image (i.e. legs and arms). You can crop this image for the portrait. Then you can have it remove the background and use it for the standup/camera view image. Then use something like TokenTool to make your token.
It's more work than just creating a token, but much more useful and imo if you don't have the other images, it's hard to get them later.
As for which AI tool, I've used both the free CoPilot and Gemini Pro (paid). Both tend to work fine, though Gemini seems to get stuck on the same image more than CoPilot does. Though I will mimic Laerun, find one that works for you. And then also keep your prompts somewhere so you can keep the same styles and such for consistency.

Good Day All :)
What is a consistent prompt for a full-height image? I have tried different ones and sometimes they work and other times they get lopped off at the knees. :)

Describe the shoes or boots or what they are standing on. Asking it to zoom out, do the full body, or such almost never works for me.

Late to the party but,
Before you, Morenu did a huge collection of monsters pics and tokens for PF2. Here's the topic:
https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?83287-PFRPG-Bestiary-Paizo-(AI)-Mod
There are prompts and other info there.
Also there was another topic for the same subject (Morenu's) but I couldn't find it. It was something like "Community gift" somewhere in the forum, which also has similar info.
