View Full Version : Option to Hide Image Borders on the Desktop

Hello,
Before making a suggestion in the Feature Requests section, I would like to know if my idea is even technically possible in Fantasy Grounds:
Is it possible to make the frame of an image invisible so that only the image appears on the Fantasy Grounds desktop, without any borders?
The idea would be to, for example, place an image shaped like a “Post-it” note and then use the text tool to write reminders directly on it.
Perhaps the frame could reappear when hovering over it with the mouse pointer?
The post-it with frame:

It should be technically possible, though I have no idea if it's feasible. i.e. it might require re-writing the entire image engine for instance.

That said, why don't you just use one image and then place the "post-it" note as a layer in the master image? If the post-it note has transparent frame, then it shouldn't be an issue.

I already use that approach when working with Cork boards and dry-erase boards. I also know that it's possible to create a simple note and keep it open between sessions.
My suggestion, however, could eventually lead to something more—like the ability to create really nice Landing Pages, similar to what Foundry VTT offers.
What do you think of it?

I don't play those types of games so I don't have a need myself. Put it on the Request List, let the devs figure out how tough it might be to implement. For landing pages I just use the screen decal and edit the image in Gimp. I'm not changing them very often so it works fine for me.

I will do a request, thanks!

Images are outside my expertise, but I think you could use the post it image as a brush on the image you are using as a background and stamp it where needed and achieve an effect similar to your request.

Yes, that’s exactly what I do with the cork board example.
But I think it would be really useful to have the possibility to simulate objects like Post-It notes directly on the FGU desktop (background).
Imagine: you share a Post-It with some notes on it, and your players can move it around freely on their own desktop as a reminder.
It could be a photo found during their investigation with an attached note, or a trace of blood...
With this idea, the entire FGU background could become an investigator board.
And if combined with clickable zones (another possible improvement), it could even work as a true interactive Landing Page.
