View Full Version : Unable to set Proficiency for specific weapon in Actions tab

It looks like the Engine is no longer tracking the Weapon Proficiency in the Actions tab:

After adding the Yew Warbow to Arja's inventory, the weapon appears in the Actions tab as expected
Clicking the 'gear' icon next to the weapon opens the Weapon-Yew Warbow dialog window as expected
The dialog window indicates Proficiency (yellow star) in the weapon, so Arja's attack roll should be made with proficiency BUT
When rolling for attack, the engine is still considering Arja to be non-proficient (see screencap for illustration)

The message in the chat window reads as follows:
[ATTACK (R)] Yew Warbow [ARMOR NON-PROFICIENCY] [DIS] [DROPPED 8]

The message suggests a lack of ARMOR proficiency (Arja is a wizard), but this should not affect an attack roll since we are discussing WEAPON proficiency.
Was this functionality broken in the last update?

Which ruleset are you using?

Dungeons & Dragons (5e)

The message in the Chat when rolling the attack is also confusing, since this has nothing to do with armor proficiency.

It doesn't look like the engine is taking the Proficient/Non-proficient toggle into consideration.

If it's adding the "armor non prof" message; then armor is marked as non-proficient in the AC details on the front of the character sheet.

For weapon proficiency, the proficiency toggle only determines whether the proficiency bonus is added to the attack roll for the weapon.
This appears to be working just fine for me. (See attached images.)

Open up the AC metadata by clicking on the cog icon next to the AC on the first tab of the character sheet. Check that the proficiency star for Armour is lit up. If not click it to light it up. Most likely this isn't lit and so FGVTT is thinking that the character isn't proficient with the Armour they have equipped and so is making attack rolls with disadvantage.

Thanks Zacchaeus! I toggled the armor proficiency on the Main tab, and it resolved the issue. I do find it counter-intuitive that a Wizard with no armor proficiency should be Disadvantaged when wearing no armor... :p But the fix works and I guess that's what matters. :)

The star in that box is set to proficient by default, so I have to assume the player unchecked it at some point since FGVTT doesn’t change that automatically even if the player actually equips armour they aren’t proficient with.
