If this is already a thing, I haven't found it yet. Open to refinements.
Goal:
Improve multi-character/item/ability views at a glance.
Fewer windows that I have to manage and move around.
Problem:
I'm still relatively new to FGU, and the single-window-heavy interface has made the experience a bit tedious. When I'm trying to prepare a session, I'm often having to open many character sheets and items and abilities one by one, which results in many open windows that I have to close one by one.
Propose:
- DM tool: Multiple characters window.
Double-clicking a character link would open the character sheet in its own window (same functionality as now, but moved to double-click). Single-clicking would open the character sheet as a subwindow within a parent window (default size as if opened on its own, no re-sizing, side-by-side if there's room). Single-clicking additional character links would add them to this window (and automatically scroll the parent window to the new addition). Within this parent window, double-clicking a character link would open the character sheet in its own window (same as now) without removing it from the parent window. I want to be able to close individual character windows from within this parent window, as well as close the whole thing at once.
- DM/Player tool: Multiple items window
Same idea, but for items
- DM/Player tool: All abilities window
Similar idea, but unique to a character. If my character has a number of class abilities/feats/talents/etc., I want to be able to open all of their individual description in a single parent window so that I can look through them all at a glance, and then close them all at once. Similarly to the previous proposals, the individual windows would be opened at their default size as if opened on their own, no re-sizing, and side-by-side if the parent window has room.
