Ruleset: Starfinder 2
Name: Murder in Metal City
Day/Time: Sunday at around 6 PM UTC (for around 3-4 hours)
Frequency: 3-6 sessions (exact length will depend on the group and their familiarity with the system)
Video/Voice/Text: Fantasy Grounds Unity VTT (free demo version is enough), audio and other communication over Discord, Obsidian Portal (free version is enough) for campaign management
Total players: Currently around three players
Players needed: One to two more players
Play style: Mix between combat, skill encounters and RP.
Prior knowledge: Generally speaking, no prior knowledge is required (but it may be beneficial).
Some background about the mini-campaign:
A strange message beckons six strangers to Striving, an expansive megaplex city on Aballon, the planet of Machines. There, they gather in a neon-lit cafe, surrounded by androids and robots, to meet an old friend. The bartender brings them refreshments—and a holographic recording from their mutual acquaintance.
“Greetings, friends! If you’re watching this, it’s because I’ve experienced an unexpected shutdown—in organic terms, I’m dead.”
Pregens are available.
Player expectations:
You should get along with the other players (and the GM).
If you cannot make the session, no problem, but please try to notify me in advance.
Online games usually mean that there are less feedback mechanisms and I am not able to read thoughts. Direct feedback is therefore appreciated (what you liked, what you want to see more of, …).
Similarly, if you have issues with some content, be sure to communicate it to me (e.g. whisper an “X”).
While there is always the risk of technical issues, if you are using Discord or Fantasy Grounds for the first time, I highly suggest testing them out ahead of time (connecting etc.). Please note that for Fantasy Grounds, the server needs to be up in order for you to connect – which you’ll have to tell me in advance.
About the GM:
Expect me to have a German accent. I have run a fair amount of sessions using various rulesets, the vast majority of them online. I usually address players by character name.
How to apply:
Please send me through DM or on Discord (my forum name is also my Discord handle) the following information:
1. Your timezone and a confirmation that the time slot listed works for you most Sundays.
2. One (short) paragraph about your familiarity with (Starfinder 1, Pathfinder 2 or Starfinder 2) and Fantasy Grounds.
3. A (short) paragraph about your gaming preferences (e.g. by listing around three terms you have strong opinions on from https://philgamer.wordpress.com/2008/08/21/metagame-rewards-or-the-different-kinds-of-fun/ - the original Manyfold Glossary doesn’t seem to be online any more).
4. The phrase “ghost in the machine” somewhere in the application – the specific context does not matter. Please note that this is a mandatory requirement – applications without it will not be considered.
5. Your email or Discord handle.
