Hello,

A few weeks ago I tried to update FGU but I would get a quick pop up error message of "FGUpdaterEngine - Unity 6000.0.53f1_283510a092d9". I whitelisted the SmiteWorks folder in my Program Files but this didn't help. I uninstalled my Antivirus application and it still shows the same error message. I reinstalled FGU and the same error message shows up. I emailed support and they suggested reinstalling and posting in the Forum for additional assistance. My pc is on Windows 10 Version 22H2 and my pc is a Dell Inspiron 3847. The game has been working prior to this update. Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional details.

Without the details of the error message (screenclip/screenshot); it's unclear what exactly the issue that is being reported by either Windows or the Unity engine that FG runs on.

Welcome to the forums @unkrizzo - sorry you're having issues.

Is the error message window the same as shown in the first attachment in this thread: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?85575-Fantasy-Grounds-Not-Launching-After-Latest-Update-%96-Install-Stops-After-Updater IF so, are you getting a similar error in the Player.log as mentioned in post #8?

Have you added any memory or a video card to this computer? The model implies 2014-2015, Windows 7 originally. You have Windows 10 on it now. What type of video card do you have by chance?

Laeryn, I haven't added any memory to this PC. The PC was a gift from a friend and it already had Windows 10 on it. I can look up the video card later today.

Trenloe, this post is related to the one I posted previously. I couldn't see it so I posted another one. I'll check the player log.

Moon Wizard I'll add a pic, if you like my old post has the picture.65191

Also would be good to attach that FantasyGRoundsUpdater.log file that is in the window behind the error message.

Can you post a picture of the "C:\Program Files\SmiteWorks\Fantasy Grounds\FGUpdaterEngine" folder in Windows Explorer?

Thanks,

There are no missing folders that I could see in the folder; and the log is clean.

Can you grab the Unity logs right after it crashes?
The Unity logs are located at:
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\LocalLow\SmiteWorks\Fantasy Grounds\Player.log and Player-prev.log
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\LocalLow\SmiteWorks\FG UpdaterEngine\Player.log and Player-prev.log

These may or may not tell us anything; depending on what the Unity engine reports.

Thanks,
JPG

Here are the logs requested. Since I can't get past the Fantasy Grounds VTT update, there is only a FGUpdaterEngine folder and no Fantasy Grounds folder.

It looks like potentially a graphics driver issue; as it looks like it is crashing when the Unity engine is trying to run a DX11 command.

Can you make sure that you are running the latest updates for your Dell? And the latest graphics drivers for your graphics card?

Doing some research, it appears to be a Unity issue with AMD Radeon cards: https://issuetracker.unity3d.com/issues/min-spec-directx-11-regression-in-unity-6-dot-1-failed-to-create-gpufence

I've passed details on to the FG devs.

For testing purposes, or a temporary work around, if your computer has another graphics device (e.g. an Intel integrated GPU), try disabling the AMD Radeon graphics card and just running with the Intel GPU.
